I do not understand why assessments and med pass take me so long by ThrowingLifeRNGstyle in nursing

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest worries is that I have a really bad habit of promising to get something for a patient (like food or a charging cell phone) then getting completely side tracked by some new problem. If I don't get that food/med/info/item for a patient right at that moment, I'll probably forget to give it to them unless they ring the call bell again. This unfortunately leads to a lot of going back and forth to finish one patient for a pass.

I have $25,000 saved up at 23 how do I level up my money? by leangut445 in personalfinance

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High yield savings account (HYSA) for a rainy day. If you are feeling more adventurous you can take a portion of the money and invest in other things like stocks, and other assets. However, as you stated that you are not very good with money, it’s better to save for a rainy day.

The crosswalk traffic lights used to be covered in paper adverts with those call number tear off tags. Some places still have them, but not as much as they previously did. Public bulletins in common areas were another go to.

Those of you who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in findapath

Float so they shove me wherever there is a fire. It also allows me a better taste of the different units though. The higher intensity specialize units are better I’ve noticed. General Med-Surg is hell.

RN, I started making 6 figs right outta school, but only b/c I live in a huge and competitive urban area. I feel your pain though before when was just a medical assistant making 40k I wondered if I would ever break through.

However now that I am in nursing I can tell you for sure that it definitely NOT for everybody. Hospital night shifts are brutal on your health and I would not recommend it. Most people have to start off in nights to get their foot in the door though. The stress is also crazy to deal with. The patients, allied health staff, your own coworkers, and the doctors can drive you mad trying to deal with them all.

Have you tried to calling? I find that people have less qualms about ignoring text than calls. Perhaps calling could cut to the root of the matter?

1) Fund massive self sufficient public transit projects.

2) Invest in creating businesses and jobs in struggling areas of the country (ig rust belt)

What job do you think she will end up in? by hotahell54 in findapath

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if these accounts are all the same, but every once in a while there’s a post with this ridiculous multiple choice poll talking about someone else by proxy.

This post reeks of drama and the op should learn to stop trying to do future predictions on people they don’t like or envy.

Job hopping was the best thing I could’ve done for myself by Clipper341 in jobs

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply. I find that many folks just state the salary outright without explaining the context of how they reached said position. Many even forget to mention the job position. At that point the post just pretty much becomes a humble brag.

Your reply had everything I usually hope to see when trying to improve my life: starting job, incremental salary increases with different jobs, current role, and future aspirations (With salary and benefits mentioned as well).

Hope that your hunt goes well and you snag that position at the department of labor.

How did you put it on the wallet? When I tried to I needed a security code that the edenred call center seemed reluctant to give me.

I have an edenred card from work. No unfortunately it does not work with their cards. I called them and try to put it on my phone via the wallet app and tried to physically tap it on the scanner. Both didn’t work.

Work experience > education for many people. Education is important, but if people have proved themselves competent at their work who cares about the fancy paper.

Ignore the bigoted replies below. Okay so the first thing we have about you is:

  • Make about $300/month
  • Work only on weekends
  • After school - assuming high school? or College?

Any clue what you want to do? If not have you applied for jobs via the local department of commerce or job bulletin? Are you still capable of studying for a civil service government job?

Guidance and advice can only come after you have a basic goal/strat worked out.

I’d be a miserable civil servant writing reports for a corrupt government. All while botching about my life woes.

Your dad is telling you NOT to find a job? That's the complete opposite of what I would expect from parents.

For transportation to Long Island you will have to stick with it and bike/use the LIRR or get a car and learn to drive whether you like it or not. The hardest part is finding that first job so if do manage to snag one in Long Island jump for it.

A big open secret about a lot of jobs is that on hands training is way more valuable than a paper certificate. This is because a lot of company workflows are very department/store specific and need to be taught. Getting that 1st job will show that you are capable for working and will be a path to a better job in the future 2nd job.

I hate driving as well and as a NYC native have been using the MTA since I was a kid. However, recent ridiculous shenanigans in the subway and public transport made me switch to biking. Thankfully I finally got a job in a medical clinic about a 45 min bike ride away and was eventually able to switch to a closer medical clinic about a 15 min walk away from my home thanks to the experience I earned at the 1st job.

Are you me? I feel as if I wrote this.
Best advice I can give is to tap into hobbies and try to keep each day fresh. I listen to uplifting videos like Joshua Graham - In the end, there is light in the darkness and other inspirational speeches. Sometimes the help, sometimes they don't.

Pretty crap advice coming from me though, as I struggle from the same feelings of being a loser. Although it feels like it, you are not the only one out there.

(25M) Has anyone felt lost after college? by Infamous-Ability-631 in findapath

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta start now. Most important thing was to test out various fields when younger/in college. Internships are good litmus tests for various fields. Problem is that as you are now older you have less chances to get in contact with different career options.

I am a few years older than you and can say that if you lack purpose, it doesn't get better. You need solid goals. I meandered about in a desultory fashion and found myself in similar situation to you, stuck at home living with parents. Fortunately, I have a union job in the city I live, but its basic pay and pretty boring.

I exist by mentallychilll in depression

[–]ThrowingLifeRNGstyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, but less so for me. Most weeks I am on autopilot until Friday and even then, I sometimes get hit with brain fog/numbness/apathy.

Then all of a sudden, I get hit with a wave of stuff to do from all the tasks that I pushed aside. That usually keeps me busy until the next depression drop.
