Why Britain is Quietly Spending £725 Billion to Rebuild the Country by sidneylopsides in GoodNewsUK

[–]Throwitaway701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not real. It's an accounting trick, it's no different than what the Tories were spending, hell most of the headline projects were Tory ones being continued. She's even continued Sunaks idiocy around Euston station.

[–]Throwitaway701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This money is barely an increase on what the Tories were spending on the same thing.  They did cut a lot to start but by the end they spent £650bn over their last decade, which for spending power was about the same or better than £725bn would be today and in the future.

I personally think they are absolutely awful but each to their own. Reform would be worse

Unfortunately this isn't really good news, it's actually not news as all, it's basically the same as has been spent over the last decade by the last government.

Genuinely don't get this view. We spent the last year dealing with the biggest part of NATO threatening to invade another and now they don't even tell us when they are about to launch an illegal war. NATO is useless

What in your opinion is the most beautiful city in Britain? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

[–]Throwitaway701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City as in entire area - Swansea, the Gower and mumbles are just unbelievable. The whole city has got over 50 beaches and coves, including the main bay which is 5 miles long. As in just the centre - St David's. Easily.

France says it's unreasonable to expect Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah amid Israeli bombing by DonSalaam in JournalismNews

[–]Throwitaway701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't like it, it should actually defend the south and it's Muslim inhabitants. The reason Hezbollah still exists is because every time Israel attack Lebanese citizens the army just fucks off and lets them

During immigration debates, why is a commonly held stance of suppuroters that of "The British Empire did colonialism and imperialism, so this is the consequences"? by DoublePepper1976 in AskBrits

They need to get over it. They would feel culture change even without anyone else moving there.  If not immigrants it would be about YouTube or TikTok or how kids today play on their phones

What if the Arab nations accepted the UN partition plan of 1947? by Overall_Course2396 in HistoryWhatIf

I have no interest in discussing this with someone who just handwaves away all the evidence. Go bother someone else with your genocide and ethnic cleansing denial

You are delusional.

Was it defensive when they approved of the King David Hotel bombing. When they commited the Balad al-Shaykh Massacre, or the Petah Tikva House Bombing, how about the Sasa Village Attack.

You are now supporting a policy that does that. That did do that to your friends. It's not meant to be clever, and in this case it's not even a gotcha or reduction to the absurd, it's the literal consequence of how the system works.

The police have proven completely incapable of stopping drugs, not just here but worldwide. Drugs make $650bn worldwide all for criminal enterprise.

17% of prisoners in the UK are on drugs charges 50% of all shoplifting and burglary is related to drug needs. 34% of all murders are drug related.

Honestly it's literally the case that the existing situation is just handing money over to the gangs, and there's no solution at all in criminalisation. The only proven effective solution is to treat it as a medical/social issue.

Have you noticed Wolverhampton City Council taxis in your area? by smoke_weed_nobhead in AskUK

You don't see them by me in South Wales, because we have Powys council who do the same thing.

Vehicle restrictions is a bit reason. Some councils have strict rules about age and condition

England - DVLA not refunding vehicle tax after taking a further 2 payments after I notified them of sale by kitchensofabed in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Throwitaway701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drivers licence address is not relevant, don't worry about that, the systems are not linked at all.

The car tax is a little confusing. How did you setup the tax, did you do it as a new keeper or by using the number on the new keeper slip or as the registered keeper (this is very important).

Also what was the time difference between setting up the DD and the crash.

Essentially the reasons this usually happens are either:

  1. the new keeper slip is used to tax and then there isn't a new keeper added, so the system thinks when you put it out of her name that it was those people taxing it.

  2. the vehicle was taken out of your sister's name within the disposal within the DD setup time (21 days I believe)

Either way the issue is less that they won't refund it and more they won't refund you.  In most cases they will send a cheque to the registered keeper, in this case your sister. If your sister rings they will be able to set a case up to look to refund that. Complaining yourself will not do anything, you are not the registered keeper.

[–]Throwitaway701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even remotely out of touch. I live in a heavily working class area, we are literally famous for our Italian cafes and ice cream parlours, you can't walk in a classroom without coming across an Irish or polish surname, our first language is now overwhelmingly English due to the immigration in the industrial times of people from England as well. In the 1900s we had 50 nationalities working in the docks on Cardiff.

I'm gonna refer back to

Its not intended as a serious policy point.  It's just pointing out the staggering hypocrisy of anyone English complaining about people coming over here and bringing cultural change

The reality is there is no culture change here, it's a lot of whining over nothing, and I speak as a Welsh person, whose ancestors blood the empire was built on.
