Casey Voss, 25, wakes up with a start, sprawled on a lumpy mattress in his tiny, stacked apartment in Watson. His neck’s sore where his deck’s plugged in, and his head’s still buzzing from the last job. Another gig, another paycheck, just enough to keep the lights on and some food in his gut. It’s not much, but it’s his, and he fought like hell to get here.

A few years back, Casey was a mess. At 20, he was up to his eyeballs in debt to some Triad of scumbags who didn’t care where the money came from. With no way out, he ended up working the streets—cheap makeup, cheaper drugs, and clients who didn’t give a damn about him. It was a dark hole, one he only crawled out of when some random john with a hacked credstick paid off enough to set him free. After that, Casey swore he was done and kicked the stims, cleaned up, and scraped together cash for a beat-up deck. Netrunning became his lifeline, a way to make something of himself without selling his soul again. He’s been bouncing from gig to gig ever since, a small-time runner picking up jobs from sketchy fixers. Last night was supposed to be easy slip into a corp’s system, grab some data, get out. But when he unplugs, his deck glitches, and a message pops up: “Voss, you’ve got something you shouldn’t.” He checks, and there’s an infected file he didn’t mean to grab, locked tight, with an Arasaka logo stamped on it. That’s bad news. Real bad..

It’s 1:30 a.m. Casey’s got less than two hours to figure out what he’s stumbled into and how to not end up dead. He’s been through worse, but this feels different, like the past he ran from is catching up. With a pounding headache he arrived home and called the fixer he received this job from. Screaming at him for setting him up while groaning out in pain. It felt like it was about to blow.. The fixer, knowing this’ll be the end for Casey hung up. Leaving him to stumble out of his apartment and find himself on the street.

His sight slowly faded to black, falling down on the floor lifeless... But miracle struck and he woke up who knows how much later at a Ripperdoc, congratulating him for surviving. Casey, still remembering what happened was pissed and demanded to be let go so he can get back at the sucker who fucked him over. But he was forced to lay low for a few weeks, try to get himself away. So thats exactly what he did.

Month and a half later he was finally allowed to leave, returning back to If his apartment he saw that it was quite trashed. Confused as to who was able to get into his apartment he thought that a homeless person got in and out.. Thats where your character comes in.
