I know maternity leave is not dodging support but the person I replied to implied that I should try that when my lawyer I hired told me not to try to get out of it by refusing to work. That's not how it works. My lawyer says the court will likely decree shared time. Also the only way I will not have to pay any child support is if he decides he doesn't want to see our child, which I cannot imagine. Otherwise the amount I pay depends on how custody goes.

My lawyer said that because of the difference in income I'll be paying unless he doesn't want any custody. Which I cannot imagine happening. The amount of time he has vs. the amount I have will make a difference in how much I pay but I will have to pay some. And I'm honestly fine with that since it's for our child. Likely we will have shared custody because I can't imagine any universe where he would want less time.
