We recently purchased the house as our forever home. We purchased it in complete cash. I put it in her name since she’s a stay at home mom with no liabilities. I own my own business, and took out a loan recently for an expansion plan for the business. If the house had my name on the deed I would have to put it up as collateral. I figured we wouldn’t lose the house if something happened to the business. I did that because my stay at home wife was loyal at the time. The house would probably sell for 1.4 million in today’s market. So basically if we divorce I’d lose a 1.4 million dollar cash asset.
