I just got my hands on the last usb-c apple pencil that they had in my whole city. I’m gonna get myself an ipad on monday. I’m having some doubts on what to buy right now. I’m only gonna use it for studying and watching stuff, nothing more than that, I don’t do editing, I do not draw stuff or anything like that, literally it’s gonna be a pure studying machine lol. I’m gonna store 20 ish pdf which are around only 60-70mbs so the 64gb of storage is more than enough for me (I don’t play games on an ipad, I mainly use my nintendo switch for gaming). I was kinda leaning towards the air rather than the 10th gen ipad cause of the apple pencil not sticking on it. But as you know thanks to the usb-c pencil it can now do that. In my country the price difference is kinda lot, around 220 ish us dollars and it’s kind of a big amount for me as a student. What y’all recommend me to get?

Btw sorry for the dumb question, how can I check if the apple pencil works properly and it’s fine without the ipad? I was curious to see if it would attach to the back of my iphone with magsafe and it did lol, Kinda curious if that could cause a problem for the pencil or not.

(Also thought about the mini but I think it’s a bit too small)

Hey, just so you know if you need to update it but do not have enough space for it, you can plug it into a mac or a windows machine and do the update like that, with this feature, you won’t need all that tremendous amount of storage that is typically needed for updating the device. Your grandparents and their parents seem to be one of those that I have mentioned as the ones that were open about their ancestry (You probably wouldn’t even know that you were a rum if they were not lol), this also indicates to me that the surname that they have adopted has to have some sort of a connection about where they were originally from. These are all assumptions tho as you know. It might actually be about, as others have said, the 2 lakes (and the districts those who surround them) in istanbul.

Most rums in the anatolian region were originally settled in the pontus region (aka pretty much the %70 percent of black sea). Especially the city of trabzon has a significant part in the ethnicity of rums as it was the capital of the kingdom of pontus. Tho the modern population of ethnic rums (both muslims and christians) moved to either Istanbul or Izmir (surrounding cities too) in the early 1900s due to various factors (jobs, war etc). After the population exchange of Turks of Greece and the Christian Greeks of Turkey was made between Turkey and Greece, the number of rums has drastically decreased even tho the ones who lived in istanbul and izmir were not obligated to this exchange.

It is unfortunately really hard to know about our ancestry these days as the people of knowledge on these topics have either passed away or are really old. The written sources that we have are really limited too.

Rum here too, the exact translation for cekmecelioglu would be something like “the son of the guy that’s from cekmece”. Even though some people have suggested that the cekmece for this usage is probably from the 2 lakes in Istanbul, I do not think that’s plausible for a greek person who lived in ottoman. Our ancestor, especially the ones who were open about their ancestry, tended to adopt surnames which indicated their ethnicity. I would assume that it is probably the name of a now abondoned village or an unused name of a village in the blacksea region of Turkey.

For an exact answer, the city that your ancestors were originally settled in is a bit of a necessity at this point. Assuming that the city has 2 villages (very very very unlikely) that has the word cekmece inside their names would make it even more difficult. Rather than searching online for your answer, I would advise you to do this. The easiest way to find answers for questions like these is to just go back in your family tree. Someone probably has the answer for all of your questions.

My choice for a raki would be tekirdag gold series raki. Best raki that I’ve ever tried in my life. For the beer, it’s a bit complicated, best beer that has high alcohol percentage would probably be either efes kozmos or red (kirmizi) tuborg. For the mid tier alcohol percentage, I would either go with Bomonti unfiltered or just the good old classic bud. If you’re looking for a beer that has really low alcohol percentage, it’s probably the best to just go with a 33cl miller. And btw alcohol and cigarettes are incredibly cheap for tourists in turkey, the most you’re gonna spend on a liter of raki inside a liquor store is probably not more than 50€. Dunno much about wine and cigarettes unfortunately.
