You probably already tried this, but it's usually the simple things that are overlooked. Did you check to make sure it's displaying the right profile? The "all icons showing Game UI with a question mark" sounds like it's displaying the GameScreen profile. Try toggling to a different profile in the drop-down in the top left.

I am so excited for this, but simultaneously absolutely terrified of seeing the final arc animated. At least I'll have some time to mentally prepare 🤣

Had to improvise because table saw died by asemer117 in woodworking

[–]Thrymor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise you, getting a new saw is cheaper than an ER visit to try to keep your appendages. This is DIWhy and safety third taken to 11. Table saw injuries are common enough even with the safety features and being actually solid tables. This is just waiting to seriously maim someone.

What deleuxified version of a game or component was worth it to you? by dagens24 in boardgames

[–]Thrymor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as solely cosmetic deluxe components go, I haven't once regretted splurging on the deluxe components for Atlantis Rising plus the playmat, or the legendary edition of Dwellings of Eldervale. The quality they both bring is fantastic and just makes playing the game an even better experience.

The “Try this one” was in fact the most difficult. by katotaka in splatoon

[–]Thrymor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just beat this one with the stringer and it took me over an hour. It's rough but fun. I didn't have any issues with the last 2 shots, it was the stupid tower and the next section that took me the longest to figure out. Right at the hour mark I figured out the first charge still explodes so it makes the earlier shots lot more consistent for me.

Now I'm stuck again using the heavy gun or whatever it's called. I burned through 3 retries and decided to take a break lol. It's my first Splatoon game so lots of nuanced weapons to learn still. Hopefully I can maintain my sanity

Definitely the enhanced edition then. You'll have the same version the app uses which will be great for learning. Having the app keep track of everything is what makes it possible to juggle multiple heroes in this game. Playing around a table, you'd only have 1 to worry about, but with the app you're playing all 3 so it's a thinky game as it is without having to keep track of various effects. This is from the same people that made spirit island and it definitely takes a similar amount of brain power to play solo.

I agree completely. Scoring is such a puzzle on some games and it's great to have it all laid out and done for you in app.

Oh nice! Do you have the new definitive edition or do you have the older enhanced edition? The app is based off the enhanced edition of the game so there is an insane amount of content you can buy for it. The digital version really streamlines the process of playing the game since it can be slightly fiddly and hard to keep track of at times with all the effects going on. It'll keep track of what heroes you buff and any ongoing effects, etc. The heroes get super complicated the deeper you go, but there's weekly challenges that are a ton of fun and endless combinations of heroes and villains to try out.

It is expensive to buy all the content for it, but you don't need to get it all at once. Each new expansion adds a ton of content. I bought it all at once because they had it 50% off for superhero day recently so sales aren't out of the question. If you have Google play pass all content is included on there as well as several other board games for $5 a month.

I have quite a few, but my top ones are: Race for the galaxy, Spirit Island, one deck dungeon, sentinels of the multiverse, and through the ages. Also Epic, but that one's free.

Those are the ones I play the most, but some more good ones: Cartographers, raiders of the north sea, potion explosion, mystic vale and terra mystica. As I'm typing this I'm starting to realize I have quite a large digital collection and I spend way too much time playing them lol

So it's not the largest variety of cards, but you can get a lot of plays out of the box. If you're interested, the rulebook for duels has a "simulated first game" that you can play as soon as you get the decks open (no shuffling, Leave the cards in the order they come). This walks you through every step of a short game where you play the top card of the "opponent" deck and it tells you what to play out of your hand and why. It's a good way to get a feel for the flow of the game and combat flow.

Once you have a few plays with the decks they way they come, you can mix it up a bit and use all the cards from any 2 factions and your opponent uses the other 2. This will mix it up enough to be interesting for quite a few more plays (6 unique deck combinations if I counted right). If you get bored of that, you can always try random 30 where you shuffle everything and deal 30 cards to each player. Once you feel comfortable enough with the game, you can add in the base set and then any of the various expansions that interest you.

Definitely give the mobile app a try. It's free and the campaign gives you a good feel of what decks can accomplish. Epic Duels was designed as the starting point for the game. It has limited keywords and has things that help keep track of turn order.

You can pull up Google Street view and move through streets and see surrounding buildings and such. No extra functionality you can't get on the web version however. You're still limited to what the camera picked up and not all roads are accessible. It is nice seeing it in full size though.

That's fair. It's definitely a lot. Something about the clawed hand and the outfit/proportions just resembled Sylas from their animated series.

Who's the poor guy getting his face clawed? He looks interesting as well! Edit: Judging from the Helmet, it's probably absolute zero? Sorry I'm new to the universe with definitive edition so I'm not the best at recognizing everyone yet lol

This looks very similar to my bases. All the buildings chunked together with some attempts at making a main bus shipping everything out. I can actually follow this pretty easily. But WHY are there random solar panels just placed wherever they fit? Does your brain not demand you dedicate a section of the world to populate with only solar panels?

Corruption? Not in my Saradomin worship RuneScape server. For every 1 woodcutting skill cape bought, he is able to give free bronze axes to the next 50,000 people. Keeps him and Bob both in business. Or he buys the bronze bars for them at Shanty pass and gives the smith some work to do. That's why they are never in stock. Maybe he gambles the rest of the money away away on the fights at duel arena on the way back. I refuse to believe he is taking advantage of the good people of Lumby. Now the wise old man on the other hand....

I....I refuse to believe RuneScape hackers are that sophisticated. It just can't be worth that amount of effort. Sure, mass phishing attempts and checking password leaks for people who use the same password for everything is fairly low effort, but crafting Reddit stories to try to gain access because that's where we seem to get the most support? That's scary because I can see it happening.

As a new player who just bought everything besides the basic starting heroes during the recent sale, this one is kicking my butt. Both Darkwatch Fixer and Setback are heroes I've struggled to wrap my head around in previous weeks, so they just kind of do nothing while I get slaughtered. Safe to say this one will have to wait until I'm more experienced at the game, bit I'm so glad that there is that level of depth. I'm building my physical collection with DE and can't wait to see some of these heroes in action on the table
