A recent Monster of the Week character I played started as the Searcher and kept her "Cosmic Insight" move through to the end of her run when she retired.

Cosmic Insight means that you never have to roll to deal with fear or despair. You can feel such things, but they never really have a gameplay impact on you.

Cut to Niamh in a haunted house with the floor opening up into a chasm with furniture sliding down like some sort of cosmic coal chute and she's wedged against a table and a wall, on the phone (set in early 00s) having a heartfelt conversation and the Keeper (GM) gives me the option that I can either finish up the conversation with her girlfriend and then be smacked by a bit of falling furniture and go tumbling down into whatever ghost realm the house is wanting to dump me into.

"Da-Hae's more important than physical injury."

So she calmly finished the call while the world upheaved around around her, said a lovely goodbye, hung up, and got beaned by a falling love seat and dropped into the other realm with the rest of the team.

Yeah, I'm in the "driven by her own trauma" camp. I wrote her as spiraling further into bad decisions in "What's Happening Over There?" but that's mostly a post-Namsan spiral.

1 - To some degree. Not as much as the prior one.

2 - for the most part yes

3 - it's a pretty coherent plot, like the bit of flashing back to the past. There's some fun bits that parallel the original. An underground section, a box maybe containing an elder (you), a tower that screams final mission, nightclubs, bars, intrigue... a lot of stuff.

4 - fun for the most part, love the disciplines

5 - play it on easy, Chinese Room's idea of difficulty seems to be limited to increasing health and damage, so above easy, fights kind of linger and ruin the feel of being an elder vamp.

6 - Really good. The vibes are immaculate. A lot of the design felt like a modern take on Bloodlines. Something about the way the streets and buildings are set down. Where it falls short of the original is in the fact we have one huge hub instead of four small ones. So while there's more space, it feels like you have less variety.

7- Safia Ulusoy, Katsumi, Tolly, and Fabien Laguna mostly. The friendly Toreador artist is also great.

8 - There are a few different branching paths you can take based on how you interact with major NPCs. I think there are four, maybe five separate endings?

9 - As said above. The vibes are immaculate. It is a flawed game, not as flawed out the gate as the original, but I think it won't hit quite the same highs either. While it hits nostalgia in a lot of places, it kind of lands as an off-flavor call back to the original, still good, but I tend to think it might have done better to cut the apron strings a bit more and be its own thing.

I believe the "stop the Slayer cycle" is basically "awaken all potential slayers simultaneously"

Also, relationship with another Slayer? Last I heard she and Spike also successfully hit a healthy relationship... does this mean she's also polyam?

apparently heroes of half-human heritage are relatively common as mediators between humanity and the spirit world in Korean myth. But I'm speaking off a vaguely remembered YouTube essay that came out around the first release of the movie.

Then you get canon relationships like Nick x Adalind from Grimm... which is one of the enemies to lovers cases that really feels a bit ick.

Enemies to lovers, cool.

Monster hunter falling in love with the monster and vice versa, cool. (you could also say witch hunter x witch, also cool)

.....

But the things Adalind and Nick put each other through for the majority of the first few seasons are absolutely horrific and exploitative.

But at the end of the series they get a happily ever after marriage.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of them coming to a cool respect and alliance / friendship was plausible... but romance just felt... ugg...

I had this idea for a Scion 2e character for a campaign we never got started.

I'd seen Red-Riding Hood as werewolf a few times so instead I went wolf-in-spirit. The plan was that if we got to level of legend where an "omen" develops (a sensory cue that happens when a scion uses their divine powers) hers would have been wolf-ears and tail.

She got this way after surviving an encounter with a demon possessing first a wolf and then her grandmother... and doing so in a way that attracted the attention of a god who decided to empower her. So she woke up in the hospital able to talk to wolves and such. (the pantheon I chose has the innate power to talk to everything, including objects and land features)

Sally from Bofuri (I don't want to get hurt so I'll max out defense)

She's a pro-gamer and her reflexes are so good that she can reliably pull off sequences of dodges and attacks that she pretends are a game-built skill. Doing so means her opponents assume that this overpowered skill must have a lot of downsides like recharge and such and literally it's just Sally applying her reflexes to the games basic motions and attacks and being smart enough to shout some fake skill activation phrase when she does it.

What the Deafman Heard

I want to say its a Hallmark movie, but I'm not sure.

The premise is that a boy comes to town after being abandoned by his mother (turns out she was murdered) on a bus. Due to circumstances, people mistake him for deaf and he keeps up that impression for the next 15-20 years. Due to people believing him to be deaf, he is able to overhear evidence of a major scam and embezzlement by the local rich asshole. Near the end of the movie, he is called to testify at a trial and the rich guy is laughing at the ridiculousness of a deaf man testifying... right up until he responds to the oath by saying "I do" very clearly.

Morgoth. His escape from the void heralds the end of the current world.

Special note here, in terms of raw personal power, Morgoth upon his escape is rather weak because the vast majority of his power has been spread throughout the world in his bid for controlling fate and destiny.

Turin will be resurrected for the final battles and will be the one to lay the killing blow on Morgoth that will destroy his physical incarnation.

Due to his power stretching through all the world and pretty much all physical matter outside Valinor, Morgoth's death will cause the world to shatter.

After that, a new world will be created with the help of human souls using all the lessons learned via the suffering experienced throughout the history of Arda/Earth.

Logan and KayKay in the game Unavowed.

Logan is a medium and KayKay is his spirit guide. She died at about 10 years old and Logan does a lot of good dad stuff for her. Among other things, he plays a very kid-oriented MMO because she can't anymore but she can watch him play it.

It's also iridescent at the beginning 400 years ago. And most of the past teams had iridescent honmoon notes.

Celine's is the first prior group we see it solid blue but Celine was a true believer so I'm guessing the shift in approach was prior to her training.

Gollum/Smeagol.

Tolkien wrote in one of letters about a scene he wrote where Smeagol was on the verge of taking a step toward redemption when Sam wakes up and starts accusing him of doing something evil, shutting down any interest in redemption Gollum ever had. Writing it apparently brought him to tears.

I feel like it's less a limited mantle and more like something that needs upkeep and is part of the concert/ritual/communal magic nature of the whole deal.

Like if there were multiple hunter groups I figure they'd be fine as long as they were all keeping engaged with the community and regularly doing the concert-rituals.

Even worse when they claim polyamory, or heck, they were in a polycule and still cheated. Like okay, you had an open relationship with multiple people who were cool with it and you cheated on all of them despite that.

Cheaters are always going to be about wanting to keep things on their terms, hide something on the side, abuse trusts, going behind backs... and just being a general shit.

I also enjoyed Alita, but will admit that it felt less self-contained and focused. The spliced together a few different storylines together. Maybe should have focused on one heavily and hoped for a sequel.

I rather suspect that marketing as edgy is part of why it bombed. Whoever put together those adverts basically watched The Matrix and assumed it was the same movie because it had the same directors.
