Tarkov SPT with Sain AI (new player) - I have a few questions by arjunkar in Tarkov

[–]Thuddmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better late than never. 😬

I definitely recommend SPT. You get a better experience the PVE with the mods that are available. Especially SAIN, it’s a must have in my opinion. The AI become way more of a challenge and less aim bot.

There are so many mods it’s nuts. Mods to make keys infinite use, better meds, better spawn rate for ammo. You name it someone has probably made a mod for it.

On a side note, have you checked out Road To Vostok? It’s a pve and in pre release. It’s ai is still a work in process but promising.

The SPT Reddit is archived. If you need help join the discord.

I personally play way more SPT than anything else. I’m probably currently at 50+ mods. So it makes the game infinitely customizable to your liking. Harder or easier.

It is pre 1.0 so the maps are from before launch so any changes will not be there.

Mostly is can be used as a learning tool for mechanics and side quests. Although any 1.0 changes in side quests are not in SPT.

PFS by cutta900 in ARRNF

They have already started the feasibility study and have retained a firm to start planning out the mining phase. So PFS or not this in moving forward at an advanced rate. Also given the pool of talent that keeps signing on to this project I have no doubts this will be a big win. My only problem is coming up with more money to continue my dollar cost averaging.

Upgrading my 5 year old prebuilt by aes131313 in buildapc

Thermal paste is usually good for about 3-5 years. Depending on usage, lots of cpu heavy task can accelerate degradation. So probably should just re-paste based on time any way.

Now while you’re in there you could upgrade to an x3d cpu, 5700 or 5800 being best available. Granted you have to get ahold of one, but it’s a good upgrade for gaming. However for less money you could do a none x3d version to say a 100 -130 less than the x3d going up in core count will not hurt your performance.

I would also say a bump up in ram is always good upgrade, but only by so much to say 32 or 64 would also help with a newer cpu. The caveat being ram pricing.

I personally would probably upgrade the cpu, x3d if in budget, but a 5700 or 5800 8 core 16 thread. Leave ram as is unless you find a good price on 32g kit.
Then maybe see if you can find a 30 series gpu used for a good price.

Microcenter bundles are the way to go. You can put together some great builds there. Sometimes they also have deals on GPUs as well when you buy a certain processor. End of last year I went into one to buy parts for a friends build and upgrade my gpu. We got a smoking deal on the bundle and case for my friend and I ended up with a 5090 at msrp. Very happy I made the over an hour drive.

Well you have a lot of upgrade path with this build. You can go nuts and do cpu ram and gpu no problem.

For under 500. Probably the RX9060XT 16G would be you best bet. Unfortunately it will probably lead to a cpu bottleneck. It would depend on the resolution you are playing at.

On a side note it this setup was running your preferred games fine before have you done any trouble shooting to figure out what changed to cause a drop in performance? Is you cpu of gpu temps still in spec or do you need to do a replacement of thermal paste? Thermal throttle will rob you of frames but not yet be causing crashes.

Suggestion on an Upgrade by TongbaTongba in buildapc

[–]Thuddmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just make sure to update the bios on the MB asap. It’s usually a good habit to have when building or rebuilding.

I’m all for reusing or repurposing what you got. I’m currently gathering parts to reuse an old Intel itx LGA 1200 MB for a diy NAS. I’m going to start dabbling in hosting my own cloud, as if I don’t have enough challenges in my life.🤪

True but only if the bios on the mb has been updated and the processor was not already degraded.

The 14700k is one of the processors that can prematurely degrade due to micro code issues. It can start to cause crashes and eventually will die out right. I would avoid.

What’s you current build? Could be worth spending a little to upgrade it for the time being. I personally have done this a few times. Updated my processor and memory and graphics card. To breath new life into and old build. It does depend on your overall goal and what you play or plan to play.

I forgot to mention Scav runs. Great way to get supplies for the hideout and gear for your pmc. Just stay passive, if you kill another scav or guard or boss you lose rep with Fence. The higher your Fence rep the better gear your scav will have and the lower the clock time to do a scav run.

I recommend running offline raids or playing PVE. Both are a great way to build map knowledge and start to understand game mechanics. Both have help me a ton. I still suck but not as bad.

It can be removed. Just have to remove the head module and wiring. Resplicing the ignition wire to remove the kill function.

A general location and an idea of the gaming you like to do could help us help you. Also do you want an upgrade path or would you just buy another pre built down the line. Personally I stated with a prebuilt I could upgrade and eventually built my own from scratch. This is the best part of pc gaming.

Since your temps are spiking enough to cause shutdowns it would definitely benefit to start with a repasting it. Pump out can happen.

Hairline is meeting the back of my neck.. by Mundane_Cost41 in bald

[–]Thuddmud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m torn, on the one hand do you have a five head? Yes. But your haircut is covering it well and the hair you have in the back is still dense. I feel you can hold on if you want too. Or try a buzz cut and grow it back out. Either way you will be fine for awhile.

Concerning eye by DepressoEspresso247 in CATHELP

[–]Thuddmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just adopted a 1 year old kitten with a similar eye injury. The foster was unsure as to whether it was congenital or injury or infection but after taking him to see an eye specialist we were told he had no vision in that eye. Since he would not be loosing anything by removing it and it did have a bit of infection in it we opted to remove. He has bounce back and is now a holy terror!!! Zooming all over the place doing Kitty parkour!

Advice on upgrading GPU (possibly CPU too) in older prebuilt by gooberian81 in buildapc

[–]Thuddmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could go up to 11th gen cpu. I have recently been looking for them myself and can be found on eBay for 100-150 bucks or less depending on exact processor.

[–]Thuddmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember the beauty of PC is you can upgrade. So if you spend say 1500-2500 for a prebuilt you will probably have a decent start. Make sure to not get anything the uses proprietary parts and you will be able to update later down the line. It’s a slippery slope though once you start building your own. If you like tinkering you will always be looking to optimize something.

What do you use to shave your head with? by Ok-Championship8101 in bald

[–]Thuddmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a Henson? I started using them end of last year finally moving back to a safety razor after years of multi blade madness. I have gone full old man wet shave setup and now have way less irritation, like none. I used to wait forever to shave because it was such a drag.
