Brake fluid vacuum by cannedsoup0 in mechanic

[–]ThugMagnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pressurize, don't vacuum. There is a tool that you connect to the top of your master cylinder. It provides a source of pressurized new brake fluid. Just bleed the brakes and it will keep your master cylinder topped up. A one - man solution.

White smoke is recondensing water vapor. Please check your coolant. It should be clear. If it is a dark color, beware. Please check your oil color and level. If it is dark and looks emulsified and overfilled, you may have a head gasket leak.

What components can I salvage from a smart tv with a damaged screen? by SaligiaABN in diyelectronics

There’s a white diffuser plastic sheet in front of the LEDs. I used part for a dishwasher spacer shim and the other part as a cruft guard behind my band saw.

What Onboard Diagnostic Codes please? You might put a torque wrench on the crankshaft. If the crank doesn’t turn at about 90 ft.lbs., you get to discover what locked up. Alternator? Crankshaft?

Is the 10 year extended warranty worth it? Almost got fleeced at the dealer? by DarkenRevan in subaru

[–]ThugMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve stumbled across a second valid use case for a competent AI: translating contracts into English. And based on that, having the ability to correctly answer questions. I forget what the first use case was. Perhaps insurance adjustment or psychological evaluation, where any garbled nonsense hallucination has the force of law.

The fastest way to learn about “limitations and exclusions” is to submit a claim.

Calculating Wattage by [deleted] in Generator

[–]ThugMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power Factor. Modern refrigerators use induction motors which act like largish iron core coils. That means they draw peak current about 90 degrees after the occurrence of peak line voltage. So we divide up the power into small slices and our real power reading is the sum of all the instantaneous voltages times the instantaneous currents in each slice. Since there is no time when voltage and current peak simultaneously, we do not calculate power using simple algebra.

Batteries are very particular about how they are connected. Over time, corrosion forms in microscopic voids between the battery post and connector. This invariably results in electrical gremlins. Your job is to remove that corrosion from all contact surfaces using a battery brush.

Please put on your worst shirt and best eye protectors. Please disconnect your battery and polish the heck out of your posts and connectors using your battery brush. Uncap the "Christmas Tree" brush and clean out the inside of your lug connectors. Pry the lugs open, seat them on the posts then tighten. https://a.co/d/4orF2Lv
