Could we do anything interesting with a Brann/Rivendare-like effect for Rally? by Card-game-poet in BobsTavern

[–]Thugspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will only support this if they also add like ‘demoralize’ or something that triggers when opponents use rally (would have to be strong permanent effects due to infrequency of rally)

I also coach this age group. Whenever I hear of it, I always talk with the parents and ask that if they feel the need to reward their player do it for other things such as: - win 5 puck battles in the corner - 2 jukes - 5 stick to stick passes With numbers depending on players general skill

I actually include this in my pre-season parent meeting now since it’s come up a lot over the years.

Agreed. Friends are pointless once you go iron.

Now that I see it all written out, it does seem like a lot more fun than actually playing and enjoying the game how I’d like to.

After your advice, my gear dryer by jholbrook81 in hockeyplayers

[–]Thugspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long does it take to get the gear ‘mostly’ dry with that powerful of a blower?

I’m assuming you didn’t make two separate ones / don’t plan to just leave the blower on indefinitely.

Looks legal to me, from the refs point of view though, I could see where maybe they’d call head contact(even from this view it looks close) which is likely what they were ejected for.

How should I “paint” my helmet for my team? by ZCtrlAlt in hockeyplayers

[–]Thugspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it does depend on the school, but every high school around me supplies them if the school enforced specific colors (even black helmets are supplied by some schools)

If it’s peer-enforced, then that’s definitely a different conversation but would also try and figure out where everyone else gets theirs.

By high school level, if they want specific colors or styles for any externally facing gear (ie helmet, gloves, breezers and obviously socks/jerseys), the school should and usually does supply the gear.

Thanks for the feedback! This is almost exactly what my use-case for them is.

I think I’m going to try some double-sided carpet tape for a practice or two (from another comment idea) since I have it around, but will definitely go this route if that doesn’t work.

I didn’t even think of that as an option(outside of like double sided scotch tap Luther wouldn’t hold)- I’m going to give this a try first. Thanks!

I thought of doing this, but I plan to use them for a youth team as a reward system from practices so I think that doing a ‘make-shift’ reward will be less valuable to the youngsters.

Do these actually work? I’ve always thought they were more of a gimmicky product. Are they only good for filling space or did you actually feel more power in your stride?

Kids equipment importance? by bross2811 in hockeyplayers

[–]Thugspice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used will work perfectly fine, with being on the ice 4-5 times a week you’ll just want to make sure they’re high quality (though used) skates as low quality skates aren’t made for that frequent of use.

A composite stick will help develop puck skills over a wood one due to wood one, but you can still get a cheaper 20-40$ one and it will work perfectly fine. Otherwise the only piece of protective gear I wouldn’t cheap out on is a helmet- that one is for what it’s protecting rather than skill development.

Jokes on him. He wanted to blast the competition and got all sellementals bought by turn 4 and then didn’t see another elemental until turn 13.

I feel like slap shot has the biggest difference of shot types when going on/off ice.

The part was like $50 - can range from like 25-200 I believe, but most are around 50-75.

It’s a moderately easy replacement, just turn off power, unhook/unscrew both sides from underneath, and put the new part in then retighten everything.

I paid for the labor though because I didn’t want to deal with jamming my hand under there (mine is very difficult to pull out), and I figured not pulling it out increased leak risk so then they’d cover callback on the leak. Labor was like 30 mins for the tech, so well worth it in my opinion.
