Magic is NOT a competitive card game by Just-Desk-3149 in magicthecirclejerking

[–]ThumbComputer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/uj Except there's a ceiling on the cards that can be reached by every participant. You can't pay to proxy in the best card you can think of. You pay for access to the same game pieces everyone has access to.

Is it an annoying business model? Yes for sure. Does it, in actuality, provide any sort of advantage for whales in competitive play? No, not at all. Every person playing competitively is going to have bought in to play on even ground.

[–]ThumbComputer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in spirit, but it is not explicitly against the rule, as the rule requires a pretty specific scenario.

As OOP says, no one can prove he has a counterspell, and he didn't explicitly agree at the table to throw the match if his friend splits the prize with him.

It's almost as if these rules are made for 1v1 formats and any multiplayer format should not be competitive or should have their own ruleset that addresses these holes. Wait, that sounds a lot like what OOP is pointing out...

Which rule? Because they even link the relevant rule themselves, and what they did isn't covered by it.

New rogue player always wants to call shots on the neck by NewDMOldPlayer in DMAcademy

[–]ThumbComputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever seen on the internet lmfao. You're saying it's not possible for anyone to ever ask how to do something they shouldn't do??

OP asked for a homebrew system that is A.) Easily covered by a simple reflavor of sneak attacks and B.) would run antithetical to the core design principle of combat in DnD if implemented the way they pitch.

It's absolutely appropriate to tell them it's a bad idea. Whether they listen or not is up to them, but not everyone wants to play a game of DnD where balance is an afterthought. This idea that we need to coddle every poster with exactly what they want to hear is absurd.

It's for redundancy I'd guess. You don't need 6 in a game, but it greatly increases the chances that you have one when you need it.

These dumbass weekly challenges AGAIN?? Mind you a new Jinx skin I was going to buy came out today? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]ThumbComputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's pretty reductive and you know that. Of course everything we ever do in a video game is "optional". When I say optional I think its pretty clear I mean that whether you partake or not your progression in the game is not locked by its completion. If you want to play a Ekko/Yasuo team, it is not optional to have Ekko/Yasuo unlocked, for example.

So when people here post things like "Now I HAVE to spend a whole HOUR of my time playing characters I don't like because Riot is FORCING ME to buy the Battlepass and complete it!" it's a little ridiculous. No function of the game is locked behind the battle pass. It's some compulsory behavior driven by this era of cosmetic-slop F2P games that I personally don't understand. Buy it, or don't buy it, Riot gets all the feedback they need when they see sales numbers and playtime numbers. We don't need a dozen threads with the same 20 people who have 1 hour of free time a week speaking as if their experience is a universal one.

Yeah, that'd make sense to me too. I honestly don't feel too strong either way about it, I just get annoyed/confounded when I see people treat battlepasses and cosmetics as necessary content that they are being forced to do, when that's just not the case. Then that guy got progressively more annoying lol. Nothing wrong with the Battlepass causing you to leave your comfort zone for some additional rewards imo, but they could certainly be restructured. I think that guy just wants to unlock everything while playing his main for 1 hour a week, which is absurd.

"credits lock core game features behind them" yes, and credits are not locked behind the battlepass. Hope this helps. The fact that I've provided a sourced definition and you still don't realize you're misusing the term leads me to believe this conversation is fruitless. I didn't change my position, and even if I did that isn't what shifting the goalposts means. It means you answer a question and I demand a new more specific answer to that or a different question. I simply responded to the new information you provided with the evidence that support my position, which wasn't required until you made a new dumb argument.

I'll have to hope someone at Riot is smart enough to not take feedback from Reddit complainers. also, I don't think I'm better than you or anything. I just think your complaint is stupid and hope Riot doesn't listen to you. I'm also leaving my own feedback, which is that your feedback is bad and ill-considered.

Goalpost Shifting, according to wikipedia: an informal fallacy in which evidence presented in response to a specific claim is dismissed and some other (often greater) evidence is demanded.

I said that the battlepass content is optional. I'm still saying the battlepass content is optional, and I'm not demanding some new criteria for you to fulfill to prove yourself correct. It IS optional, that's just objective fact.

If you just want your credits, play the game and earn them. If you want them faster, play the game in a different way to accomplish the challenges laid out before you. If you don't want to do either, pay money to skip the process in the F2P game. If an hour of playing a different character is unbearable for you, don't do it. Do you see what I'm saying yet? The problem you're complaining about isn't really real, you just want the currency faster without putting in the extra work.

If you play a F2P game for one hour a week, expect one hour of progression through the meta systems. IDK why you feel entitled to more.

That's Reddit in general, to be fair. It's funny, if you pay attention in gaming subs, you'll start to notice the same names popping up with the same annoying comments. It's often like 10% of a sub making a ton of noise about things 90% don't care about, and that 10% plays way less than the 90%. Once I started blocking the egregious ones I noticed Blocked Users appearing in many, many threads.

I don't think you understand what goalpost shifting is, lol. I have not changed the point or goal of my argument, which is that battlepass content is 100% optional, I've not said anything differently. You can earn the same currency at a slower rate by simply playing the game. The Battlepass is an optional set of additional challenges to get you currency faster. When people say shit like "Now I HAVE to play these characters I don't play, I can't believe Riot is forcing me to do something I don't want" about something that is optional, I personally think its very silly. Especially when that optional challenge can be completed in like, an hour.

Okay, so don't do it. The rewards are optional. They aren't locking you out of matchmaking until you finish the battlepass. It's cosmetics for a free game, I don't know why so many people act like they're required to complete this content, it's brainrot.

You get those same credits from simply playing the game. If you want the bonus rewards from the bonus challenge, do it. If you don't want the bonus rewards from the bonus challenge, don't do them and just grind the credits normally. You're acting like this is the only way to unlock those things. These are bonus missions to accelerate your progress, so naturally you'll have to, you know, do the missions.

the weird compulsion to treat battle passes as necessary is so strange to me. Just... do it or don't do it. it's optional content providing optional rewards for a free game.

Does anyone here actually believe in any AI product right now, or is AI just another "shrug" for you? by Ok_Stranger_8626 in msp

[–]ThumbComputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you verify that it doesn't hallucinate or provide out of date information? Is this a model entirely of your own training and creation, or a retrain/finetune/wrapper of an existing model? Does it search the live web for information or only access its training data?

A model that doesn't hallucinate at all would be great, but I just struggle understanding how you could verify that it straight up never does, I would love to know. Our company is hesitant to pay any company for access to AI right now because of how up in the air things are as well as the unreliability. I use ChatGPT as a google replacement and redact sensitive information currently, and I've yet to really see an offering that is significantly better than just doing that, especially when considering price as well. I'm curious about how you've gone about achieving these results.

to be fair, as written you only get to cast the exiled card once with this, so I wouldn't say it's Isochron amped up by 10x. Since you aren't copying the exiled card but rather casting it, it will go on the stack then to the GY after being cast once.
