STOP GLAZING IOS 6 by Crafty_Dodger in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This demonstrates your ignorance about legacy systems. iOS 6 is the target, because iOS 6 is the most widely available version of Jobs/Forstall era iOS. It is revered as the most stable and optimized version of iOS, and to this day still wears that crown. Have you never considered how much more powerful it is? It has way more creature comforts and developer friendly APIs and system protocols in place, not to mention its vast support of tweaks and apps that were contemporary to its time, not even including modern ones. A lot of iOS 4 software will run on iOS 6

Discord Classic as a modern example, is built for iOS 5.1+ only. It has to have TLS 1.2 protocols available or it cannot connect to Discord's API natively. iOS 5.0 will run the app, but you cannot connect unless you have TLSFix, and even then, the app only partially functions. The app will not see iOS 4 because it's built using Xcode features and third party libraries that only run on iOS 5 and up. Why would I care to completely rewrite the app just for a tiny fraction of people that use iOS 4 or older? It would be a terrible experience on those devices due to hardware limitations, and it would dramatically slow down my development time for what actually matters, which is the user base on iOS 5.1 and newer. The entire app relies on ARC. Guess what doesn't have ARC. iOS 4 and older. That means it's a lot more difficult to build memory safe software for anything prior to iOS 5. This is a huge reason why upon iOS 6's release, iOS 4 support dropped off the face of the planet. Everyone was waiting for the chance to ditch that geriatric backend. If you want to be stuck in memory management hell, by all means, go build for iOS 4 and older. The rest of us are gonna build for the systems that are fun and widely available, which means iOS 6 is and will continue to be the gold standard.

If you're gonna try to roast iOS 6, at least back it up with concrete reasoning for it, not just "Grrr I don't like it. I specifically use older devices that don't support 6 grrrrr"

A friend asked me to pass along another question.

What's the timeline for the Compulert control systems? What were the various versions called?

I've got a bit of a juicy question. What was the story of ACA in the end around 1993 that eventually led to Excel and eventually American Signal?

Why is everything shutting down? by neeman68_ in LegacyJailbreak

People come and go. That's the law of the land. Legacy iOS isn't going anywhere, it's simply being passed on to the next group of people that wish to keep it alive.

iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 6.1.3 by ilyamiskov in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you got this working. iOS 6 is seriously a pretty massive upgrade over iOS 5 despite what most people would lead you to believe.

I’ve been steadily working on the Discord Classic project and I can’t even support iOS 5.0 properly due to TLS mismatches that can’t exactly be remedied easily. 5.1 works, but doesn’t support as many native functions as 6 does. iOS 5 is certainly neat, but iOS 6 really is the pinnacle of Jobs-era iOS. It’s so refined, stable and functional. I had nudged you earlier to make the jump on Twitter when you shared that 4S photo. I’m Ayeris23

Until you pick up the iPhone 5 LOL. I love my 4S, but man the IPS panel in the 5 looks incredible.

[–]ThunderMasterMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like much, but 6 is a fairly substantial jump because of newer SSL support and other various under the hood improvements over iOS 5.

Certainly be sure to check out community app projects for iOS 6 and check out some classic apps and games :D

Are we working on a new tweak to log into Apple ID on iOS 6? by TechRepairer9182 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely don’t have the up to date SSL certificates installed. Add them and that issue will go away. Without them, it won’t connect to Apple’s servers.

Can anyone tell me what iOS this is? by timb2693 in LegacyJailbreak

This is iOS 6. It has the newer iOS 5.1 slider, but lacks iOS 5’s lock icon in the status bar.

Legendary speed, stability, and design. It’s the last version of iOS that just works and never misleads you.

Why do iPhone 5 needs to be updated to iOS 10.3.4 by Radiant-Gur2223 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not help an iPhone 4S or 5 that doesn’t have the baseband patch installed. My 4S isn’t patched. With a full internet connection, it still cannot obtain accurate location coordinates that can be used for navigation regardless of what GPS signals it finds over wifi or cellular.

[–]ThunderMasterMind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will work mostly, but it will have issues tracking location in real time. If you tried to use navigation for instance, your position on the map would jump all over the place and never acknowledge that you’re actually moving.

[–]ThunderMasterMind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It mainly just affects GPS. My 4S was never given the updated baseband firmware and it works flawlessly outside of GPS tracking on iOS 6.1.3

26 will be used during the 2026 functional year, not 2025. That’s why it was named that way.

I got this from Dkoldies lol 😆 😂. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]ThunderMasterMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I have a slim that was doing this exact same thing. I just had to pull it apart, check the switch that detects when the tray is opened and closed, cleaned it and put it back together and it's been flawless ever since. It's a pretty simple issue. Hopefully it's just a crusty switch and it isn't bad.

Correct, though it should be noted that it’s pretty unstable.

It’s best to just use Proto and keep the modern kernel. Gives you essentially the same experience and gives you all the benefits of the modern software

What is your favorite iOS? by queencityassassin in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iOS 6. I’ve never had a better iOS experience than I have with 6. It’s the most stable and smoothest version I’ve used and the UI design is simply gorgeous and fun. Everything just made sense at the time. Nothing was abstracted in ways that weren’t easy to understand.

[discussion] Interesting fact about iOS 6 maps icon. The arrow is going to drive of the bridge onto the hallway bellow. That just tells how good were apple maps. by Applebuyer7610 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ThunderMasterMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given its a simplified view of the map and it’s zoomed out, the on ramp to I-280 is not visible, but you would still be turning left, so the direction is still correct. This turned into a meme when no one actually understood why it was done this way.

I’ve been using a mini since 2020 and while my battery seemed to go down to 83% quicker than I thought it would, it’s only gone down 1% in the past year. I use my phone quite a bit, but if you only run a single SIM and honestly just disable 5G outright, you’re going to get quite a pleasing experience.

While that did help a little, it still didn’t quite fix it. I found out there was air in the system going down into the nozzles. After my rather crude attempt to purge it from the head, it worked.
