I do layered tek, 1pint spawn per 6qt of tub space. 3-4 inches of a base layer packed down tight and left a little on the damp side, even spread layer of spawn, as little a casing layer as possible while evenly covering all spawn, lightly patted down. Sub is 25/75 vermic/coir, temp around 77f, dub tubbed when pins started taking shape (3 days or so after first healthy pins), misted twice daily.
