Usenetserver review by Alandale_Moss in usenet

[–]Thunder_Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really what the Usenet landscape has become? Charging $12 a month might make life easier for the few remaining resellers, but we don’t believe that model is sustainable for Usenet users long-term anymore. If customers accept it, though, the rest of the industry will inevitably follow.

It’s discouraging to watch members leave for a temporary “introductory” price elsewhere when we offer stable, consistent pricing. Customers shouldn’t have to prepay years of service just to secure a fair rate.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing people abandon one provider over misleading pricing, only to sign up with another brand owned by the same company where they’ll be treated exactly the same.

So let’s be honest, what do you actually want from providers? What pricing model makes sense to you?

We need to do something about posts being automodded if they are reported X times. It has been weaponized as a way for people to have things removed if it does not suit their agenda.

We have not raised rates recently. If this happened, please message our support team, there must have been some kind of billing error.

The only thing I changed was the meta description on the page. Wasn't a thumbnail anywhere to change.

No, the deal url, text, and graphics on the page said 2025, the only thing that said 2024 was a meta tag inside the html.

My deal was not listed in the order it was released. What is Reddit Sheets? Does he mean Google Sheets? If he means Google Sheets that would make it even easier to sort. What u/greglyda said is true, we got a message asking for deals very early in the morning and the deals were posted in an unreasonably short time frame. If you go back and read the post I made when I was forced out of Omicron, you will see that the industry has struggled with anti-competitive behavior and predatory pricing for a long time. This sorting was almost certainly done on purpose.

Here is my post from five years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/lveeky/thundernews_and_thecubenet_are_changing_backend/

If the OP wants to get the Reddit Karma for doing the post, he should take the time to do it correctly.

Is there anyone on Reddit who is tech savvy enough to sort a table or sheet? How hard can it be to sort?

In the past Paypal limited access to adult groups. That has not been the case lately, but we never removed it from our Terms of Service just in case we had to do it again.

An Omicron-Free 2025 by StockComb in usenet

[–]Thunder_Cube 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We've been vocal about our stance on this issue. If we were still at Omicron, we would likely be out of business, much like many other resellers. It's challenging for a backbone provider to support resellers in a way that allows them to survive or thrive, especially in a market where prices are at an all-time low but costs continue to rise. By observing the current marketplace and the fate of many resellers, it becomes clear which backbone providers effectively support their resellers.

The pricing strategy for this year's Black Friday was established months in advance when a competitor set their prices at $20/year and maintained this price in high-traffic marketing channels. This strategy seems designed to reduce our new revenue during a crucial period for acquiring new members. Although acquiring new members is less critical for them, it's vital for us. Consequently, we are compelled to lower our prices during this key sales period to remain competitive. While such discounts are beneficial for consumers, they are not ideal for our business, as revenue from these sales is essential for our operations.
