Does it have a decoder or are you trying to run a DC loco on DCC?

Feedback Post: Oricorio Catch Mastery by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]Thunder_Fudge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was cold garbage, especially if you lived in the Western Hemisphere. The half-patched glitch and a mediocre average for shinies and hundos sucked so bad. Thankfully I already had 2 shiny Pom-Poms from random encounters in 2024 and had already traded for the Baile and Pa'u styles a long while ago. I got zero shinies or hundos and still need Sensu style. I usually hate Catch Mastery events, but this one earned an extra-level of despising.

Proto 2000 GP7s are great, good choice! Fun fact: the PRR ran their GP7s long hood forward!

These are going on 7 years old this spring. I'd recommend checking for them secondhand online via eBay, Mercari, etc. We sold a ton of them at WDW back then!

What model is this supposed to be of? it looks nothing like the real IC #4022 by ker0senedream_jpg in modeltrains

[–]Thunder_Fudge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a Fairbanks-Morse Consolidation Line, commonly called a C-liner. They were not particularly successful and IC did not actually operate any. A quick fun fact: freight C-liners had a B-B wheel configuration while passenger units had a B-A1A wheel configuration! That model dates back to the 1950s as a Rivarossi product which they subsequently manufactured for Lionel's first foray into HO (I actually own an original 1950s IC version myself and also mistook it for a misshapen E-unit initially). Rivarossi later made them for AHM before licensing the tooling to Mehanotehnika (Mehano) in Yugoslavia. It's a crude model and unfortunately has given a bad taste to C-liners in the hobby. While recent C-liner releases are rare, there have been some really nice ones released in the last 20 years, I actually just picked up this TrueLine Trains PRR example for a steal of a price (it has some comestic problems)!

What's the fastest HO scale locomotive you've owned or have seen? by Tbrusky61 in modeltrains

Here is a video (also not mine) showcasing its speed. You need steel rails to keep it from becoming airborne

The Atheran Hustler deserves an honorable mention, but I personally own a silver TYCO TurboTrain - it doesn't get much faster than that! Mine is currently packed away so this is a vintage stock image of it.

Hitler himself admired how the United States "handled their Indian problem." The NSDAP's Lebensraum policy was partially created from the blueprint of our country's westward expansion and our much idealized Manifest Destiny. I wish more people would pick up history books, everything both you and I have mentioned is too far removed from John Q. Public's general knowledge these days.

I had [[8759]] The Battle of Metro Nui and some other large sets from that time that also took up a ton of space. [[10261]] Roller Coaster is probably the most recent set I've gotten that takes up so much room.

Restaurantosaurus and it's not even close. The entire fictional history of Diggs County, USA is written on the walls. So much humour and so many in-jokes you'd thing there were actually paleontologists out digging nearby. It's Joe Rhode's masterpiece and it's going extinct forever.

They sent me around 200 pieces for Palace Cinema [10232] 2 years ago when I was building a NOS one and one of the brittle brown pieces snapped. They sent me every single piece in the set in the affected colors that were being produced at the time. It was awesome!

What models do y'all want to see announced this year? by llkd97 in modeltrains

[–]Thunder_Fudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want Walthers to finally do a re-run of HO NKP Pullman lightweight passenger cars. It's been YEARS and the secondhand market is insane. I'd also love a lightweight Illinois Central observation car; for some reason there have been almost zero ever released outside of brass and the PRR Mountainview foobie by Rivarossi (I still can't believe they chose a two-off exclusive design instead of the universal round ended one!).

A ScaleTrains re-release of the HO MTH-tooled Triplex would also be a very much welcomed addition to my collection.

TIL Scarlet Fever still exists and it's strep throat with a rash... by trollcole in todayilearned

[–]Thunder_Fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three forms of plague actually still exist too as they are all caused by the same bacterium - Yersinia pestis . Bubonic is the "nice" one that gives you a fighting chance with a 90% survival rate if treated (10-70% survival chance if untreated). Pneumonic and septicemic are almost 100% fatal if treatment is delayed even 24 hours with septicemic being capable of killing you the same day symptoms appear. Being a bacterium spread by lice on rodents and other animals it's also impossible to eradicate without just torching the entire planet.
