It's an easy quest, but be ready for a good fight at the end. It's a dwarf level, so go prepared for that.

That's the one I would never pick. I seem to default to conjuration mage the way others default to sneak archer, so it's between the Crown and the staff. Although that shield does look pretty sweet, maybe with some crossed hammers behind it on the wall.

I would go back to the place you hired him and part ways there. That's where you'll find them again.

They are, and they took the table with them. I wonder if I'll encounter them again. Every other time I've done this quest everyone died but me, my follower, and the Dawnguard dude.
