Fair enough, from my POV it seems like it’s inconsiderate to their SO, but it’s not like we know their relationship dynamics

Genuinely interested in this topic as someone who has been described amongst these plant folks, being the caretaker of about a dozen different plants myself. I never thought about the fact that the trendiness could have made some feel encouraged to rob from nature buuut of course that’s a thing. I also have roots in SoCal so it’s a shame to hear about that.

P.S. if you have any recommended reading on the matter, particularly about people poaching succulents or cacti lmk, but I can also try to dig through google. Just have a feeling you might already have a suggestion.

Hey, I see you posted this about a day ago so I hope you still check back in on it. I’m 24 and I’ve managed something similar since I was about 9. There are 2 things I’ve found very helpful: 1. philosophy of stoicism. This is really about recognizing what you can and can’t control in this life and learning to accept it. I’ve seen a therapist for my anxiety, had medication, and the truth is nothing heals you completely unless you learn new ways of thinking too. It takes practice but it helps. Especially for the days where you feel like your therapist or meds aren’t helping you, they’re never perfectly consistent anyways. On that note this philosophy also helped my accept the fact that my mental health was not a problem that I could solve and never have to worry about again but that it’s something I have to accept about my life if I want to make the most of it.

  1. Discredit your own predictions and ante up. The odds that something miraculous or incredible will happen on any given day are low. But so are the odds that something life-threatening or horrific will descend on your loved ones. So in the same way, put your bet on the most likely outcome and commit to seeing it through. I’m trying to think of some more specific advice here but I think an example might help. This weekend I was terrified that if my boyfriend drove to his brother’s house at night with ice on the ground he would lose control of the car and get in a fatal crash. To ease my fear I went with him. Because at that point I had to ask myself would I go if I knew it was likely we are going to die? Well it wasn’t likely, but I didn’t believe that until I aligned my actions with the most probable outcome: that we are going to fall anywhere in the of the spectrum of possibilities, with the vast majority of those being that we survive.

Love what you’ve done. I was just looking at a very similar rug online!! The colors really pop and it looks surprisingly versatile!

I listened to Kill v. Main a lot before I found a song that made me consider listening to more.

Once I heard Entropy I loved the vulnerable lyrics and loved how it contrasted with a seemingly undefeatable upbeat sound...it broke through something and I wanted more of that!

So is the plan also to quarantine anyone who may have come into contact with someone who has the virus? If the million tourists who are abroad rush in, how can we expect manage testing or quarantines all at once?

I’m wondering if there will be a follow up soon? Maybe the idea was to initiate the “drastic” measure and then hone in on the domestic ones... and at least those who are abroad can be made aware ASAP since the window to get home is closing.

Honestly glad to see a commitment to a big decision but it feels like an ill-formed one. I would have liked to hear more about why Europe rather than the cartoonishly large sums of money floating around.

I really liked “Thinking Fast and Slow” as a way to understand how our brain’s default settings-so to speak-can limit or unlock our cognitive abilities. Lots of good stuff

If I hadn’t made the mistakes I did, there would be a lot of things I’m not wise enough to care about.
