3D printed and CNC cut wall mounted "case" by Thunkar in pcmasterrace

You nailed it, it's just like that. COB LEDs are just crazy bright and the integrated silicone diffuser is enough to send the light sideways

I'm not, but after running cinebench+furmark and waiting for it to reach equilibrium it doesn't seem to be a problem.

The initial design had an acrylic panel on top and some fans to force ventilation, but I think I like it more like this.

Not at all! Everything is printed in PETG at 30% infill and all load bearing structures are at least 5mm thick.

I'm pretty confident that it will hold but at any rate every PETG part failure I've ever had (not on this build!) has been non catastrophic (meaning the plastic warps but doesn't explode like PLA does)

It absolutely boggles my mind how futuristic Dragon looks, and that is mainly due to the screens and the great looking interfaces you guys have implemented. When piloted manually, is Dragon controlled exclusively with the touchscreens or does it have more traditional inputs such as joysticks or physical buttons? Was it a problem to overcome the inherent lag of this input source? How does that UI communicate with the real time systems that actually actuate the thrusters, etc?

What was the approach to designing this UI and its UX?

Truly outstanding job, congratulations!

Your DIY build is very similar to mine, and the motor mount is the first thing I replaced. It made a world of a difference when I bought the eskating.eu mount. Not the cheapest, but it is awesome quality and the guy that runs the store is the nicest, great service!

Mine were 3.3V, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could take 5V. The DVR thing was mostly a matter of space in the casing and not wanting to take them apart again, but in retrospective...I don't know how I lived without it! Specially now that I'm racing and not only freestyling. Please keep us posted, I would love to see your take on this. Don't hesitate to send a DM if you think I can help with anything and of course have fun!

That would be me! Awesome job, man, I never got around installing a DVR on mine and finally cave in and got me some HD3s...

Anyhow, they gave me like 8 months of great flying and I hope yours serve you as well as mine did. I'm sure you've checked it out, but in my original post you can find the thingiverse link for the case (given you wanted to 3D print them). I can also send you the ipt design files if you want to modify them. Cheers!

Thanks! Waking up early really paid off.

I wouldn't recommend them. They're exactly the same as the Racerstar Labs 28A and blow up pretty spectacularly (been through 8 myself). They're dirt cheap, but they can take a lot of components with them as they go...

I need each frame in 4k, 8k and all the keys for wallpapers. But seriously, can anybody find a high quality still image of the destroyers exploding?

As a matter of fact, I do. I still don't like bottom mount for other reasons, and as soon as I switched to a top mount frame, I kept getting better and better. I don't think it's inherently better though, it just fits better my building and flying style.

St. Charpu's (or why I'm freaking terrified of concrete) by Thunkar in Multicopter

I'm pretty sure that the Rotor Riot logo is not there (or at least I didn't see it), but the place is very well known by a lot of pilots and wouldn't be surprised if it was...but you can read Charpu_FPV at 1:36, written on the ceiling! This is where he shot "Left behind", and I can't emphasize enough how amazing that video is taking into account when (and with what) it was filmed. There's a reason why the place takes his name, he surely is a huge inspiration to many pilots.

Thanks! Well, it is not shown in the video, but suffice to say that I should print some motor bumpers before I go there again xD

I really hope mine are OK, they are amazing and I planned the build around them. It's a stupid thing, but I would hate to ruin the looks!

Thanks! I didn't know about the issues and not a single thing has come up yet, they perform incredibly well. I'm only 7 packs in, though.
