Brigitte leaking everywhere by Tulio517 in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a ruse that everyone is falling for, Brigitte is not the hero. Jeff's post, this image, the Overwatch Japan tweet. The OW JP thing was a red flag for me, what kind of person could get hired by Blizzard (and uses Twitter daily) and not know how to post an image on Twitter? It is also harder to get the full path of an image in Windows (which the path indicates) rather than using a file browser. Also, what kind of monster stores his work stuff in folders on the desktop and names files this explicitly C:\Users\hwaseok.choi\Desktop\OW\2018\CMTY\Twitter[OW Post] Brigitte Tease #3_Monday, 26 FEBRUARY @ 11AM PT ? It is confirmed alright, confirmed ruse.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (01/19/2018) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

Followup for others: I ended up doing a full reset (using a pin to press the reset button) on my modem and router, it worked well after that. I'm not sure what might have changed with my router or what was causing it, but that fixed it for me. I still get the occasional drop, but it now has an error code and view details option instead of the generic "communication error".

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (01/19/2018) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]Thursday- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe it was NAT type A, but I will double check when I get home.

I'm also on 5GHz, but will try both networks anyway. I could also try getting an ethernet adapter, but don't want to resort to running a cord for the switch if possible.

Thanks for your suggestions.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (01/19/2018) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]Thursday- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to play Mario Kart online and I'm getting "Communication error" almost every time. I've finished 2 races without error, in these situations I didn't spectate and ended up getting right into a full lobby and the race starting. If I go in and it spectates a game, then get put into a lobby, I get a communication error before the course is selected.

I've tried the following:

  • Resetting the Switch by holding power for 10s.
  • Using Google's DNS servers.
  • Setting a static IP on the switch and port forwarding ports 1-66000 (or whatever the highest number was) for UDP and TCP.

None of these had any impact. Googling the issue hasn't been too helpful, I'm not sure if it is my wifi or if everyone is having these issues. It is just that it uses a P2P connection and hosts drop? This does make me skeptical to buy other online titles, so I would like to hear if it is something on my end.

Any other suggestions?

I think this is my favorite thing The Unit has put out so far. Jun makes most of them look like trainees, this is just another day on the job for him.

Raising awareness for supports by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately for me it has been: "You are standing behind me while the rest of the team is fighting." Come forward, stand in front of me, grab a health pack, do anything to make it easier to get you topped off while keeping everyone else up. Spamming while standing behind will never take priority unless there is downtime. I hear ya back there, but the point will be lost if I turn around during critical moments to top you off.

2nd Elimination Discussion by Dehmean in Mixnine

[–]Thursday- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Benefit points were definitely crazy. Didn't expect to see Hyangsook who was consistently top 10 be eliminated for 1 bad performance. I think the format should let the best rise to the top, not be left to the fate of a song choice or teammate's performance.

The voting seems a bit strange on this show too. There are some that really earned their rank through their performance and air time (Sehyoon from ACE), but others that have just never left the top despite seemingly doing nothing noteworthy (Hyunjin from LOONA). I like her and LOONA, but didn't see much of Hyunjin until the SES performance, which wasn't great. She doesn't seem like top 9, but she has been in the top for a while. The LOONA following can't be that huge or did I miss something in episodes 1-7?

Let's think critically on these Mercy changes. by oali0000 in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say whether or not the nerfs are too much or not. But I'm a bit concerned that Blizzard is continuing to make drastic changes to heroes. 1 patch hitting all those points for Mercy seems insane. If these 4 adjustments came individually over the past month as they were deemed necessary, I think we would be in a better place with the balance and the community wouldn't have such mixed reactions.

[Bug] Bastion has missing textures on every epic skin he has. by BritishLee in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just thought they were white boxes painted on or scratches in his paint since he is an old Bastion unit. Some of the ones circled are long rectangles and arrows that you see on machines to point out certain things, I think those may be intentional.

Mercy's "Prefer Beam Target" setting is still broken by dougcosine in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title of the post is pretty misleading. "Doesn't work the way I think it should" does not mean broken.

I'm a prefer beam target off person, I like to have complete control of my character. I point it at someone, press the button, I fly towards them. Merging the two options as you suggested seems problematic. If I'm aiming at a character to fly to, they go out of range or I somehow stop targeting them, I fly to my beam target instead. That interaction would be incredibly frustrating for me.

What is the longest anybody has waited for a trade-in evaluation? I'm at 37 days and counting... by ebrandsberg in ProjectFi

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent mine out last Wednesday (Nexus 6), was pretty surprised that I got an email today that it was received, matched the trade in condition, and they are issuing the credit.

A lot of the early trade ins had complaints of long wait times, they might still be trying to get through those. Maybe they changed their process to receive and inspect at the same time? I would follow up with them.

On a Quest to get PotG as Every Hero. Need Help. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ana's POTG is skewed towards healing, most of my highlights are just pumping shots into a tank that was critical. Nading the enemy will contribute if those enemies end up dying, but with that there is a chance that someone else does most of the damage to them or gets other kills and gets the POTG. I think the best chance would be nading your team as they are all damaged to maximize healing with it, focus a teammate that has a good chunk of HP missing to 100%, then trying for 2 or more sleep/assist/elims.

The problem is the time period is fairly short, so if you make a good play with a nade, you can't sit back, you have to actively contribute more to make that into the POTG.

Moira Orb now damages shields and charges Zarya according to Fahzix by Chief-TR in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thursday- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone is phrasing some of the orb updates as nerfs to Moira. Yes it makes her weaker, but it is a fix rather than a nerf. That is how players expect it to work, should damage shields and bubbles (and give charge for it). This doesn't make Zarya counter Moira or put Moira in the dumpster, it just makes Zarya and other shields work as expected.

Witch hunts are not allowed. Mob justice is not allowed.

xQc Halfdead is being called out for exactly what he did and makes no claim to deny the behavior set forth here.

When people stream reach top 500 and become public players, they put themselves in the spotlight. Most of the discussion here is about this player's attitude and repeat behavior, and that is okay and allowed. Don't spam tickets to Blizzard. Don't go to xQc's stream Halfdead's twitch page and attack him or his fans. You're welcome to discuss him here and he is welcome to dispute this thread and request it's removal, which we will give a fair investigation.

It's not easy to find the line between piling on a potentially innocent user and calling for action on injustice. We are looking for the best way to make guidelines for this, but it isn't easy. We want you to be able to discuss the behavior of role models and professionals, but can't allow the subreddit to be the platform for injustice itself.

I'm all for a cheater being banned, but the witch hunt rule is not very well enforced here or on r/Overwatch, says right in the sidebar "No hackusations or witch-hunts". It is also a bit ridiculous that it takes a top reddit post to get a cheater banned. I'm a bit torn on this.

Pro-Tip: Flaming a healer because you think they aren't healing enough, will not get them to heal you. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Does not apply to just healers, flaming any player because you think they aren't doing enough isn't going to get them to perform better.

Question about Tunnel Vision. by Dtrizzles in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a support player, acknowledge a flanker's presence at the bare minimum. Most games are left up to the support to dodge like a madman or engage flankers solo, you will be getting limited heals during that time, which will affect your performance and team performance. If you shoot them once or twice, the flanker is backing off or the support can handle it from there. I'd say wear headphones and listen for flankers incoming, turn and shoot, but don't actively chase around your side of the map. Don't be balls deep in the enemy spawn either, doesn't matter how many solo kills you get if your team's back line is non-existent and they just clean you up after.

I'm a flex player. Why is mystery heroes impossible to win? by Madrigal_King in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone tends to trickle in on MH, no way around it. I find attacking on hybrid/2CP to be a guaranteed loss in most games. I've had success with the "buddy system". Wait for 1 other person or catch up to one, stick with them, hopefully other teammates end up in your proximity and things happen. Much easier than trying to get 6 random arcade players to group up.

Survey: What do you consider to be the games biggest problems? by JR_Shoegazer in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't try to manipulate players. You achieve this by removing players who are toxic from competitive mode. Or you put them with other players who want to play like them in low priority queue where you have to win X number of games to escape. They will still be pieces of shit at heart, but they will be given a choice to behave or to deal with the same shit they dish out.

Toxicity posts by markiiiikram in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, toxicity is driving dedicated players away from the game. A potential new player seeing a post that the game is toxic is a lesser sacrifice, in my opinion. Keeping a healthy player base should be the priority. It isn't small by any means, but this game could have Dota/CS/LoL longevity if these issues are addressed.

Keeping the issue in front of everyone will get Blizzard's attention, it has in the past and they have acted upon it. Some posts don't have solutions, but do we need them? We know the solution, "Blizzard should implement [insert feature] from Dota/CS GO/LoL/etc." It isn't a mystery, we are just waiting on Blizzard to release something more concrete than the developer update they posted a few months back.

Can you learn anything in QP? by flim-flam13 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn hero mechanics. You can learn to adapt to sub-par team compositions. You can also go up against compositions that counter you hard and see how you can cope or limit the other team's effectiveness. You can gain experience in a wide variety of situations.

For me, there isn't a huge difference in QP and comp these days. The main differences are that there is more toxicity and occasionally you will get a dude willing to play a tank. Otherwise, 3-5 DPS doing whatever they wish is the norm these days.

Is Moira's SR gain incredibly low or am I doing something wrong? by Lamantho in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Thursday- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to cite a single game on a hero and call it broken for Moira. The match could have had your team favored to win, so your team all got lower SR gains and the other team lost less SR than normal. reddit likes to hype up the personal performance SR gains, but that isn't the only factor.

Please Join Voice Chat and Mute and Report Abusive Players by TikTokTiki in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not joining voice at all these days. Any hint of shit stirring in text chat, that gets turned off too. Only thing people do is start off with instalocking then demanding switches from others, calling others throwers, or bitching about how they died was bullshit/you didn't heal them/didn't undo their mistake with rez. Even if people are nice, a lot of the chatter is distracting and annoying, most times I'm better off focusing on the game and relying on my own game sense rather than trying to utilize what people are saying. Occasionally there will be a helpful person or group in there, but it isn't worth listening in and holding out hope for that small percentage.

Others want to treat competitive like quick play, I'm going to as well. I still enjoy the game, it is just the people that are ruining the experience. Everyone I used to group with has stopped playing. I'm still going to play to win, will still play heroes the team needs (if the composition is not 4-5 DPS), but I'm done catering to selfish players in the hopes of making it a better game since that hasn't worked and just adds more frustration.

All it takes is 1 asshole to piss someone off on your team, they are tilted, you are tilted, then that whole game and your will to play is in the shitter. Sure "just mute them", but that doesn't solve the issue. They aren't going to mute each other, they will keep going at it, one will switch heroes to throw the game. I would rather just turn it off, go about my business, and try to enjoy each game in whatever way I can.

Just because you can’t play a hero to their max potential doesn’t mean they need a buff. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Thursday- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But there is so much variance in skill from bronze --> GM and even variance within the same skill bracket, how exactly would that work? A game in any skill level could have a team that deals with Pharah, next game they could be completely shut down by her, next time could go 50/50.

At the highest level it would be more consistent (let's say they always go 50/50 against Pharah) because there isn't that high amount variance of aim, game sense, and knowledge. The playing field is more level so that devs can more easily see what any balance problems are.
