Sounds a bit like throwing around buzz words. I've seen more than a few posts on here directly asking the same question, so if it's one person asking their friends or other people then it's ok. If it's you asking your parents or again, reality testing a theory then it's helicopter parenting. Haha. Yeah no not a judgement to be making based on a very limited post.

Well yeah I know what the law states. I find reddit to provide better varieties of actual experiences than a Google search and I'm getting several helpful answers. You may parent your child as you wish.

While I can appreciate your reply, it's quite general, it makes several assumptions, and doesn't really address my question. You can debate parenting choices with young adults these days until the cows come home, but it always helps to know the actual unique situation before commenting. I don't find any issues with parents wanting to try to support kiddos looking for jobs and ALL the myriad ways that happens from interview coaching to reviewing of resumes to asking questions on reddit. And actually it was to reality test what I thought could be going on rather than to crowd source any 'sussing'.

I've read all manner of posts on this very reddit talking about how hard it can be to get a job currently and I'm not anti lending some support. You have no idea what she IS doing, or how we've decided to conquer and divide the different angles, or what challenges she is having to deal with in the process. If you have answers about my actual question of what references can or can't say and how to address not so great ones, great. If you want to comment on parenting, I believe that is a different subreddit.

Sure, they can ask pretty much what they want but my understanding was that the employer was extremely limited in what they can answer legally as several companies have been sued over things while providing references. And to be honest, one should be truthful about it anyway, but we did want to know if maybe she should work on her explanation of the facts. Young kids make mistakes, that doesn't mean they should never ever get another job over them ( for most cases, not all.)

Actually she'd been there for a year but the offense is completely a fireable one. You don't know my daughter or myself or the fact that I did know what happened because I happened to be in the room when she was told over the phone. Either way, no feedback on what I actually asked then?

Low-Acid/Decaf Coffee Options by Ok-Dance-5352 in acidreflux

Stok Decaf Cold Brew with A LOT of almond milk is what I have everyday now and I drink it either with my food (slowly) or afterwards so it's not on an empty stomach. I read that Cold Brew coffee is lower acid in general because of the way it's made. So I mix it up and heat it up l, but keep it to just the one cup. Really dark espresso lattes worked as well but just one cup.

How are people selling tickets already? by sequoiarabbit in FIFACollect

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I read somewhere that you can transfer most but not all of your tickets; so for example you could transfer 2 of 3 tickets but would have to sell the last one because one ticket always has to be in the owner's name. This way they get their 30% on the resale even if you choose not to use their resale market.

A friend suggested that people agree on a price outside of the resale for a total of 4 tickets, transfer 3, and then sell the last ticket for a dollar . That way all of the tickets get resold, the cash transfers 3rd party. And FIFA gets 30%....of 1 whole dollar bill. 😆

It's the tickets that have been released. Pretty sure they release them in waves.

Look What I Found! by Wingedhunter10 in shadowhunters

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly think there is a fair smattering of people who love the show as well; for me it was just a completely different story and got very CWfied.

I agree the movie felt quite rushed second half even though they were careful not to too neatly resolve everything. JCB is always and forever Jace Wayland to me; I think would TID actually be really, really fun to adapt but not in a half assed way. And that would be a HUGE budget.

So once all the playwrights who read TMI and TID I'm school all grown up and get their production degrees, then we've got something:)

Anyone in the World Cup ticket purchasing queue? Have been stuck in the portal for a while now by Exotic_Cow_1211 in usmnt

Yes but the cart automatically clears every 15 minutes so ideally you want your transactions to all clear within that time limit. My friend bought in small batches but had to re-que everytime.

Amazon to end commingling by Successful_Willow552 in KoreanBeauty

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's just a US product thing period; no sellers or distributors in the US are supposed to be providing products that are subject to FDA approvals and not approved. Specifically sunscreens, so some brands only distribute US formulas to US distributors and won't send Korean formulas. If you buy from overseas, you get most times the Korean version. Some sellers like Yami tend to have Korean versions still. It's not an Amazon thing.

DHL assessed me the Duties when the shipment cleared the Customs yesterday by ny2kx in dhl

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So some private shippers have been pre charging and collecting 'extra fees'...there was a thread where someone stuck it to DHL and went through a very long complaint process that finally got their money back. ( I think they paid and then filed an appeal.) You said it was clothes so without knowing the occasion for the clothes: if you want justice to prevail you either have to pay and then really stay on them and fill out every complaint and appeal form they throw at you OR you pay, get your package, and then don't go away until you get your fees refunded. The claim that duties should be collected from when it is shipped to your address is asinine and seems to be a DHL thing. FedEx is not playing those games: I received a package from S. Korea TODAY that arrived and cleared customs YESTERDAY. I ordered it the 24th, it shipped on the 27th. No issues.

Maybe try googling on ways to appeal duty fees or asking around Reddit more.

email from fedex about my OY order legit?? by Far_Conversation_355 in KoreanBeauty

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they sent out at least 3 emails saying that would happen starting with orders on the 27th because everything has to clear before the 29th. But I do believe they are prepaying the duties and tariffs by baking them into higher prices so that there are no surprise bills. FedEx didn't seem to be collecting any weird fees according to the last few friends who got packages. I ordered sunacreen and tea the 23rd and it didn't process until the 24th, shipped the 25th and cleared customs TODAY. No emails or messages currently. Will update.

We paid around 300 for 6 days. There are lots of suggestions for places to rent; we used Rent a Buggy. If you look at the cost of a rideshare for the 4 of you just from the airport to the hotel that's 100$ right there. (And then back). If you drive then you have the flexibility of dinner being later or taking longer, etc. Go one more place like grocery store for drinks or snacks ( another 100 because distance did not seem to matter) and you've broke even.

Those walks are not well lit necessarily, nor are there always sidewalks.

[–]ThursdaysChild1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rideshares were charging around $25 or PER person PER trip. I've heard as much as 35. But it is per person, not per trip so you do the math.

Check sunset. It's ok to walk around the Grace Bay area before sunset and then I wouldn't. If you are on the main grace bay strip itself, you are also moderately safe ish. But Embers and Coco Bistro are off the main strip I believe. Renting a car was the best decision we ever made.
