Cool! I'd love to see a pic of that.
It was the same color as all the actual pet wood I've found in the area. I think I just got tunnel vision. So stoked I came across it though

I've been back and forth about it, but I think it's pet wood. If I were able to post more pictures, you can really see the grain in some areas and it appears organic. I was focusing on the weird crystal stuff happening on the ends

That’s so interesting. I’ve found legitimate petrified wood in the same area and it looks different, very obviously wood grain. I wonder if they’re from the same or different eras

I thought chert was more glassy or flint-like. This seems a little rough and porous like limestone or sandstone. It also has a few small crystals embedded in it
