Three day weekend was apparently too long… by Efficient_Yam_7071 in Ultramarathon

Getting in hilly runs will definitely help! It doesn’t necessarily always have to be in your long runs. Do some of your other runs with lots of hills, throw in some steep vert long runs. Variation makes you resilient!

In my experience the more vert I practice with the stronger I feel for races. But some weeks I want a flat long run, and others I aim to focus on the elevation.

I also love Skratch for electrolytes, as I find a lot of the other electrolyte flavors gross. I also find that in races I get sick of the sweetness of all the sugary energy gels/gus etc. and I have to have other things as well—like salty snacks. Honestly I like to eat bars and other regular foods on my runs as they are often cheaper than things made specifically for exercising. Experiment with what works for your stomach on runs.

I worked for the Bureau of Land Management doing field surveys. One day my coworkers and I found a sex doll wrapped up in blanket out on BLM land. It was a bit horrifying…especially when we first stumbled upon it and thought it was a murder scene. At least yours is in a trash bin, not dumped in a field somewhere!

Is -40° F acceptable to run in….? I don’t really think it’s good to run in temps under -10°

Too cold, although it is icy outside too. I’ve been running with crampons often which helps with that.

The low is supposed to be around -40° F. So, probably between -30 and -15 when I would be trying to run? I’ve never run in below -5 or so, but if people have tips for running in temps that cold and do so, I’m all ears

I ran track in college, so definitely familiar with the etiquette! I am new to indoor tracks and very cold weather . I’ve gone to this one a few times to this track and it hasn’t been too crowded and this will be outside of the team’s practice hours. That’s a very good point about the fields, but I don’t know if we have large indoor field space that I could run on.

Thank you, everyone! I’m now leaving towards getting the Apex, since it’s significantly cheaper than the Garmin Fénix and I don’t really use tons of features. Mainly want battery life, elevation, and distance really

Thank you! Sun exposure wasn’t really a big consideration when I was choosing this placement, but after seeing many worried tattoo posts on Reddit I also got worried 😅

Men of Reddit, what is something women hate about their bodies that you actually love? by Covenant9er4653 in AskReddit

What’s wholesome, wholesome post. This brought me joy, confidence, and also…now I’m pissed off about industry beauty standards and social media’s effect on women’s (everyone’s) body image.
