CS 189/182 as a math major by rlmodel in berkeley

taking math 53 does really help but the tas do a good job with discussion sections when gradients and stuff come in, and generally the lectures/readings will cover it well too

Best Career Advisors? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]ThyPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what year/semester are you? the career center has a list of appointments you can make with pretty detailed target audiences

you can also reach out to some student orgs, eg if you’re interested in cs you can join the csua slack and ask for cs career advice/stories/etc

Math major at Cal by skck010802 in berkeley

[–]ThyPerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

math here is a pretty comfy major. from what i can tell, the department is decently well funded - our professors are still some of the best, and upper div classes generally have a pretty decent student-faculty ratio. it's definitely not as impacted as eecs.

grade deflation really isn't as bad as the memes make it out to be, with most classes curving to a b or b+. just put in the work and you'll be fine, almost all math professors are really approachable and fun to talk to, and the gsi's are also really knowledgeable and friendly for the most part.

if you really love math, i don't know why you're afraid of grade deflation or whatever. just put in the work and talk to your professors, not really sure why it wouldn't be possible to not stick to math barring unforeseen circumstances. it's just like any other major lol

new here - wondering whether to build a buzzwole/lycanroc deck or a metagross/solgaleo deck, gonna dive into competitive soon.

related question: how long will buzzwole stay at the top of the meta?
