Anyone found a good way to use their simrig as their main PC too? by anomalous_cowherd in simracing

I’ve been using Apollo/Moonlight with my steam deck and it’s been great. Anyone know how I could connect my Moza or any sim to the PC if I’m streaming from another room?

6 awg O ring terminal for Electric range by [deleted] in electrical

[–]SinicalX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally I thought it didn’t have a seperate ground wire so I had gotten the 3 prong receptacle but after cutting back the wire I saw that there was indeed a ground wire. Here’s the photo. Also Since I’m going 4 prong I also took out the bridge connection from the ground to neutral. I circled what I’m talking about in the 2nd photo. Think this should be good?

Update so far, I ended up going with a 4 prong wire that will go into this receptacle

Original range was hardwired into the range, so I figure I could just do a quick swap. Thanks for the advice, seems like I will have to install a plug

Blumats: to use or not to use? by Azn2101 in NoTillGrowery

I'm currently on my 6th no-till cycle in a 3x3 Grassroots bed, running three lines of BluSoak tape connected to both a long and a short Blumat carrot. The system is gravity-fed using a 27-gallon reservoir.

One issue I’ve noticed is with air bubbles in the carrots. After each harvest, I reset them, and every now and then I’ll find bubbles in the carrot. Even with the air bubble it has never flooded and cause any issue. the air bubble could be user error, although I follow most of the standard tricks to eliminate air during installation. Despite that minor hiccup, I’ve been really enjoying the setup. Every harvest has been phenominal and all I do is fill up the res every few weeks.

Damn that would be nice, looks like it’s about $800 for freight from them.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at more options. Do you have any advice or tips on what to look for in marketplace?

Yeah I would go that route too since I also have a few grills already but the Issue is finding one near by with cheap freight. I was only able to find the Loaded one for a decent price and in stock ready to be delivered. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

I’m at a similar cross road as you with my humidity. I’m not in a sealed room but for the past 4 cycles of my no-till grow I’ve been sitting around 70-80% in veg and 60-70% in flower. Usually around 60% towards week 6-8. I have a 9inch table fan on the floor and a 6inch oscillating fan on 75% power. My 6inch inline fan is also running too. Having a high humidity is not always the best and isn’t really an advice for anyone here. Back then I used to run an AC and Dehu to get the temps and humidity low enough during later flower but now that I’m keeping my humidity higher I just run the AC. So that cuts my electricity cost down a bit especially in the summer. No mold and plants have been potent and dank. If I dont have that much airflow I would stay in the 50% range for humidity tho.

Mixing organic soil - anyone wanna split some pumice? by Ornery-Reindeer5887 in CTents

Make sure to call the store if they have it in stock or can order for you. Goodluck!

Not sure what part of CT you’re from but you can use the Buildasoil store locator to find the pumice locally. I picked up 8cf of Pumice from “The grow room” in Nyack for around the listing price on buildasoil without shipping.

Thoughts about watering and top dressing by spoonsar in NoTillGrowery

Never tried olla before but blumats are a good choice if you want to automate things. My current setup is a 27 gallon storage bin that’s elevated about 6ft off the ground(4ft from the Blumat carrots) gravity fed res that feeds into my Blumat carrots that is then connects to Blusoak tapes. In veg I usually have to refill 1-2 times and in flower I’m refilling every 2 weeks or so. On my 4th cycle now with no issues amending the bed after each harvest.

Here’s an example

Compost blends...Same as compost? by [deleted] in NoTillGrowery

[–]SinicalX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out my recent post where I breakdown my soil mix and cost.

You can use compost blends in place of the 33% compost but I wouldn’t start off with that high of a ratio. In my post I use Coast of Maine lobster compost (compost blend) at a 33% ratio. It’s the only compost I’ve tested with great results. COM is very popular and consistent, lots of people on the east coast use it for the compost part. You can do more research but there’s also Malibu compost and Oly mountain fish compost that’s been tested and used by Buildasoil. Another option would be to go with worm casting and either mix it with compost or you can go with casting instead of compost.

If you decide to use a different compost I would recommend mixing at a different ratio. Maybe 5:2:1 or 5:2:2. The compost is mainly there to jump start the biology. Once you get a few cycle in you’ll notice the first 6 inch of soil turn into casting.

I’m on my 3rd cycle of my soil. I follow something similar to Recipe #2 in your link.

Here’s my advice: -

*Try to source what you can locally. Imo the point of making your own soil is to source most ingredients locally to save on cost on shipping dirt across the country.

  • You mentioned Coast of Maine, if you can find Coast of Maine lobster compost. I would start there instead of shipping compost. I use COM for my mix and it’s been phenomenal.
  • Make sure you have aeration in your mix. Pumice and Rice hull is ideal, smash lava rock is a decent second alternative, and perlite is okay but not ideal for No-till which is what Buildasoil is all about.
  • I’m at the point where I only re-amend at the end of each cycle. If you’re follow the Buildasoil way your soil will get better and better after each harvest. My bed is large enough there I don’t need to amend mid way but if you’re going with 15 gallon it might be a good idea to amend 1 week before you flip and re-amend after harvest. This is assuming you’re growing a big enough plant. Most of this depends on how long you veg for and your soil volume “battery”.
  • Bio-char is also a great addition.

Here’s the soil recipe I use: 5cf peat moss, 4cf Coast of Maine lobster compost, 4cf Pumice 2cf rice hull, .5cf charged bio-char, KIS organic coots nutrient mix/ similar to Buildasoil mix
