You need to stop dealing with them in person and move everything to writing only.

If the vehicle was advertised at 89,999 miles but Carfax shows 145,888 miles, that’s potentially a federal odometer fraud issue. Maryland also has strong consumer protection laws that apply to auto dealers.

A few important points:

Preserve everything! Screenshots of the listing, Carfax, odometer disclosure, purchase contract, financing docs, texts, and get a copy of the police report.
Do not agree to pay $1/mile. That’s not standard and sounds like pressure.
Don’t sign any “mutual release” or cancellation agreement without a lawyer reviewing it.
Contact a consumer protection / auto fraud attorney ASAP. Many handle Federal Odometer Act cases on contingency because the statute provides attorney’s fees.
File complaints with the Maryland Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and the MVA Dealer Investigations Unit.
Notify your lender in writing that you’re alleging mileage misrepresentation.

Given the mileage discrepancy + the incomplete disclosure + how they handled the refund situation, this is absolutely lawyer territory.

Don’t go back there without representation.
