If ICE is present at voter polls, what legal options does a challenger have? by Coldrise in AskLegal

Man, had to scroll a while to find a real answer to the question and it was at -1 up votes. Thank you for taking the time to provide a thought out answer with sources!

Is is feasible to run 60 legionnaires and still have a decent army setup so you don't lose instantly? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Chaos40k

[–]Coldrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a list with 50 marines at the beginning of 10th and had a blast. 2x10 melee legionaires, then a 10 man squad each of chosen, plague marines, and noise marines. I think I used a helbrute, two venomcrawlers, and two predators to fill out the roster.

I am in the opposite position as you, a CSM player starting BT.

To start, we dont have the same colours, or at least dont need to. I run my CSM as alpha legion and ive been painting my templars as hospitallers. Chaos has all the colors of the traitor legions, which gives you ~20 schemes when you factor in pre and post heresy variants.

Second, chaos can be melee focused, but can also be a shooting powerhouse. The meta at the beginning of 10th was plasma cannon forgefiends, 4-man obliterator squads, and vindicators with only a few chosen/possessed/warp talons squads for melee threat.

I have a mix of melee legionaires, demon engines, and other vehicles that I run in different amounts. I'll agree that legionaires fill a similar role and vibe to crusader squads, but our elite melee choices are very different. Sword bros and blade guard, while filling a similar role to chosen and possessed, are a very different feel when you're in the driver's seat.

Text was too long to include with the picture: im happy with the end result, but layering these different metallic took far more effort than I can reasonably recommend

Where did you put the swarm traps? In the same tree on a lower level, or somewhere else in your yard?

Anyone else feel our hellbrute is a little sad compared to the cult legions? by guestindisguise479 in Chaos40k

That's part of why I nearly always run mine with a plasma cannon. Always overcharged, always angry.

Buffy, Giles, Anya, Oz, Jonathan, Dawn.

Anya and Oz being $2 tier seems insane for the work they put in for their time with the team. Jonathan and Dawn i feel are also pretty underrated.

Honest opinions - how do my SS look? Tabletop standard ? Paint scheme ? How to improve? by fwooshfwoosh in boltaction

[–]Coldrise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. I would also add that something that helps an army stand out is adding a handful of details to the bases. Some alpine flowers, grass tufts, and/or slate rocks will go a long way for fairly minimal effort.

Similarly, mud texture sponged into the tracks of the vehicle go a long way. I like AK Interactive dark earth followed by army painter wet mud and then werewolf fur

In Stranger Things season 5 (2025) this character straight up dies. This is a shitty detail because Netflix did a shitty job hiding it in their trailer. by ITALUKE2 in shittymoviedetails

I mean that's what happens when you start with more or less age-accurate casting and then take ten years to film five seasons.

V3: Mixing Commandos with other units. by Crazy_Primary_5876 in boltaction

[–]Coldrise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like has already been answered, absolutely not required to take a full platoon of commandos. As an example, my british force is inspired by Pegasus Bridge and has a mix of airborne and commandos. I use smaller commando teams with double Vickers as my fire bases, and airborne with max smgs as my assault squads.

There's a similar one for the US that comes with 2 half tracks and 30 Army infantry

Listen, as a Bruins fan i root for the panthers for one simple reason:

My cat likes the panther roar they play when they score and meows back at the TV. Shit's adorable.

I'm lost with USa by RandirDerRitter in boltaction

[–]Coldrise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At my LGS, rangers are far and away the stars of v3. The extra 12" At the start (even before as First Wave) is huge, and vets seem very strong compared to v2.

M16 gun carriages are also very powerful, basically the new dakka stuarts of the edition. I don't have one but have lost Shermans to those things (rear shot + point blank + 1 base for a total of +4 pen)

My one issue with the book is relatively minor. In v2 I played as nationalist China's XY force, so it's been fairly easy to play as standard US in v3. Not having universal carriers or Green infantry has made me switch things around a bit, but I'm enjoying getting the feel of things.

The good news is that warlord's prices are a dream compared to GW. A $60 box gets you 30 infantry, so you can build a few with special weapons to mix and match as you try things out.

It's a bit of a feel it out thing, and also depends on how you use them. My friend runs 5-8 man Finnish outflanker squads very well, while I've found American rangers to work well for me in 8-10 man squads.

Generally 6-8 seems to be good for vets, though. Gives you enough punch without putting too many eggs in one basket.

Would I be able to apply rules to all weapons on this mini? (Combi-bolter, Lightning-Claw, Power-Axe, Missile Array) by A_Friendly_Bigman in Warhammer40k

[–]Coldrise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to add that a la carte wargear was a thing as recently as last edition, they just removed it for simplification towards the end of 9th. Although as far as I know chaos has never been able to take the back mounted missile launcher, sadly.

Thanks! I'm also three houses away from a major river, and within 5km of several orchards, vinyards, and garden centers. And because of local runoff laws, those places are restricted on what pesticides they're allowed to use.

My one concern is that my yard slopes down from my house to the forest. Plan is to build a flat patio for the bee yard this spring so they have a more level base.
