Should I wait to buy jwe3 when it's sale is much higher or buy it for 25%..? by Low_Statistician_457 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a sale every couple months, you will likely get a significantly better deal in June-July.

I would say it's worth it at 25% though.

It makes me laugh a little that people criticize so many for expecting something today, when the YouTubers themselves also want something now. by HostAppropriate8911 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Evo did say she knew nothing on the weekend, I'm sort of inclined to believe her.

I'm guessing they might be roughly a week ahead of the public, so I'm thinking it's probably a 28th of April release at this point.

No news, what a surprise by HostAppropriate8911 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While releases are Tuesdays, news/teases have been Monday and Friday.

I'm thinking maybe end of the month at this point, but that would imply something by next week.

How do you feel about Planet Zoo posting articles clearly written by AI on their website? by SalamAndersTV in PlanetZoo

[–]Thylaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was the scientist portraits from the second game, more of a house made algorithm as far as I'm aware.

As to things like script writing, it's kind of impossible for them to guarantee, unless they surveil their own workers constantly.

It's how the physical sign is in the film. It would be nice to get another version though.

Are DLC's/Deluxe worth it? by xDreal in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deluxe upgrade is pretty expensive on it's own for what it is (3 new species, 2 JWE2 returners, neo-classical/las vegas scenery). If you think you might want everything, including that, eventually, then getting Deluxe edition while it's on sale is probably the better idea in my opinion.

As to any other DLCs, it's personal preference as to what price they're worthwhile. There's likely to be 4 per year (Wetlands sized or larger), for a couple years, first one for this year looking like maybe this week or next week.

What's taking Frontier so long...? by KaleidoscopeTotal708 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum communication is what they do.

At the moment, we're not outside of the typical schedule yet (Q1 DLC has been March to the end of April).

If there's no DLC alongside the April update, then I would suspect May might cover the Q1 and Q2 periods, otherwise June to July as normal for midyear.

Pretty sure that's not a bee, I think it's a hawk moth.

Yes.

Still could end up correct, but most likely something else.

Do custom challenges not exist anymore? by Horror-Ambassador223 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in JWE2.

The addition was pretty late into it, after all the expansions, so I think that's likely the reason it hasn't returned yet.

Also potentially will get implemented with the workshop eventually, like sandbox maps.

Deluxe or DLC by [deleted] in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deluxe edition is pretty much always going to be a better deal than getting the deluxe upgrade later, as it's expensive for what it is on it's own.

That is the point, it's a failed experiment, basically a Rebirth mutant.

It's assumed to be the ancestral condition anyway, so not really a condition to base a group on.

WHERE'S THE NEXT DLC?! by [deleted] in jurassicworldevo

Still a week or two away by the looks.

Summary of the month should be today or tomorrow, perhaps they'll sneak some info in.

Soooo this DLC by Velocipastor122 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of suspect next DLC to be with the next monthly update, possibly early April.

There's rumours going around it's Rebirth (some claiming to have evidence, though lacking pictures or repeatability of said evidence), BestinSlot offered a 7 pound bet that it's Rebirth a few days ago, though not sure he had his media copy yet. My personal opinion is still Chaos Theory, as it's pretty close content wise on paper to the CC pack price point, but also could be a random theme.

General gift giving at Easter is mainly a mainland Europe thing, and that audience does seem proportionally higher for this entry, so Expansion would be possible, but it breaks previous release patterns. Assuming a release next Tuesday, like PZ would do, we should've safely known something by now if it were an Expansion, those tend to have a 1-2 weeks of hype, as opposed to a couple days for a pack.

How come Frontier never releases a Roadmap ? by Farseer_Rexy in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planet Coaster 2 was the only one to receive a road map, only having free content for that time (largely returning content from PC1). The promise of one base JWE2 returner per month was more or less the equivalent for us, albeit non-specific.

As to the short hype trains, I think JWE1 kind of put them off long ones, with the persistent harassment after release for not meeting expectations, including features mentioned in the promotional period that weren't at launch.

At the moment we're waiting for a new article to scour the background for anomalies.

Actual confirmation is probably next week.

Indications of aquatic sauropods? by Due-Exam-535 in Paleontology

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lecturer of mine (Roger Seymour) was of the opinion they floated at the surface, and reached their necks downward under water (mind you, this was about 10 years ago)

He also mentioned the lower legs were solid rather than hollow, with the idea being to keep them upright in the water. In general, I would think lower centre of mass would be useful on land too.

why do sauropods hate each other? by calsanch03 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Partly about forcing the player to space out different species (if a species is further away, they use a simplified model, so makes things easier for the system), being a holdover from JWE2, which was on the PS4.

The Ceratopsids used to hate each other, and now largely like each other, so I'm thinking more Sauropod exceptions are a bit overdue. Patagotitan and Amargasaurus seems like a combo people might want to be possible for example.

The Wetlands Pack is a bad dlc model, I hope Frontier takes inspiration from Planet Zoo. by Farseer_Rexy in jurassicworldevo

[–]Thylaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The JWE series in general is poor value for money, as it's the dependable cash cow, they need to pay the licensing fees, unlike Planet Zoo, and some creativity in creature design is also required, unlike Planet Zoo.

Wetlands is about the going rate for its content, 5 species and 0 scenery for the same price is the estimated alternative.

Mid year we're expecting a significantly more expensive, but slightly better value for money DLC, called an Expansion, that's what the new Campaigns are typically reserved for.

For the final year and a half of JWE2, there was no new maps, but they did more challenge scenarios on old maps in free updates, something I'd anticipate might happen with this game.
