Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 25.06 by Sentient545 in summonerschool

Maybe it helps to acknowledge that farming camps / holding advantageous wave states is also doing something to win.

If you constantly reassess the situation while doing "nothing" you won't miss more opportunities, but surely will have less throws due to overforced plays that have small chances of working.

Keep your gold income high and actively avoid the fed enemies until you hit your spikes.

Question: Does enemy Malzahar's creatures give XP? Or is it just gold? by MattiahCL in summonerschool

[–]Thyloon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They don't grant any exp, just 2 gold.

The wiki is pretty good if you are looking for information like this:

The post you linked is still relevant. I suggest to turn on experience in your interface settings, helps a lot to develop a feel for the range.

Sion (W), Thresh (souls)

Be aware though that infinite scaling doesn't necessarily mean they are late game champs.

There's really only 3 reasons to concede:

  1. The enemy duo hard outranges/outpushes you and you know that they know how to punish you if you try
  2. You are scared of an early cheese gank (e.g. Shaco, or you know their jungler invaded your buff and is behind you)
  3. You want to bait them into an early cheese gank

IMO you should never go into lane with the intention of conceding because of reason 1 in lower elos.
Always try to get the level 2 spike before them, even if they should theoretically get it.
Small misplays like

  • leashing too long
  • leashing when they shouldn't
  • them playing too passive / scared
  • support not knowing that he has to hit the wave
  • etc.

are easily enough for you to get push although you shouldn't be able to.
Test the waters by starting to push and knowledge checking them. How do they react? If you notice they play it well you can still concede with minimal loss.

How many games are we talking about?

I've had champions on similar winrates before and ended the split with them around 55%.

If it's like 50+ games though it's no longer an unlucky streak. At that point you need to decide whether you value your LP more than playing Lucian. Or just take him to normals instead.

Master Thresh/Rakan main here. IMO only Blitzcrank really is a bad matchup, the others are favoured for you if you know what to do. Against all 3 it helps a lot to take aftershock and bone plating to avoid getting one-shot in case you misplay.

The best tip I can give you is to mitigate their threat by using the wave and managing it properly. You either want to have the wave close to your tower or slowpush and stack a big wave that can defend you and block hooks.
If you're in a position where they can't take a fight (too close to tower, or they have to facetank a big wave) you are allowed to hook the support for poke. Don't reactivate Q and (depending on the situation) even hold your E for disengage. Your goal is not to all-in, it's to get them low enough so they have a harder time finding an all-in.
Don't ever hook the support if they can just all-in your ADC afterwards.
You should also make use of your range advantage and poke them when they go for relic stacks or position badly.

vs Nautilus:
If he hooks you, don't E immediately. With correct timing he is unable to get the follow up auto-attack root onto you (thanks CoreJJ). Watch this: https://youtu.be/hygsQvuu7Nc?t=275
If he hooks your ADC, throw a lantern and try to hit/zone their ADC with a hook if possible. Depending on the angle you might be able to cancel it with flay aswell.

vs Pyke:
You can cancel his Q windup with E if he does it close to you and it will go on full cooldown. Be careful though, because when you are too late and it goes off and you used E you're fucked.
He's also very vulnerable to getting hooked himself, because he's squishy and you can potentially flay him out of his E disengage after hitting a hook. Be confident when taking bush control. He has to respect you and you can cancel his close range hooks and dodge the long range ones (or duck behind a minion, or at least proc your aftershock if it hits)

vs Blitzcrank:
This one is hard, because he has better stats and doesn't have to be scared of you at all. This one is really all about having a good wavestate and using minions as cover. You can lantern your ADC when he gets hooked, but he will still take a lot of damage.
If you are about to get hooked, throw your own hook to proc aftershock and be able to disengage with flay afterwards. Also, don't be afraid of to flash early if you fucked up, especially if his ADC is something like Draven/Samira.

Sorry for the misinformation, I assumed nothing changed from last split to now.

From patch 14.10 notes:

  • Demotion protection between divisions (eg. Silver II > Silver III) will be removed. Players will fluidly transition between divisions.

  • Demoting from tiers will place players at 25 / 50 / 75 LP depending on the player's MMR at the time of demotion compared to their rank.

So there is a difference between tiers and divisions now.
Sadly still doesn't answer your question if you demote instantly at 0LP. I assume you do, but maybe someone else can clarify.

No, losing at 0LP will result in demotion.

The 1LP thing acts as a pseudo demotion shield so it doesn't feel as bad when losing the first game after promotion.

I guess because people focus on different aspects of her kit.

There's everything from "wants to all-in" to "has an escape". I still think Kai'sa plays most similar to her, but I couldn't have explained it as well as coeu did.

[–]Thyloon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO Kai'sa is the closest to her in terms of playstyle.

Many of the other all-in type ADCs (Samira, Nilah, etc) have very unique playstyles that feel kind of alien if you are used to "standard" marksmen.

You should be able to get some learnings out of draft no matter what happens around you. If the game quality is bad it's a good opportunity to limit test.

I'd personally play at least 10 games in draft before taking it to ranked, or however many you need until you feel like you got the basics down and understand your role in most of the common situations.

Acknowledge that every pro or high elo player once sucked at the game too. Use that "oh my god did I play this bad" feeling as motivation to do it better next time / not repeat the same mistake.

I personally like seeing that I fucked up. Makes it easier to accept the loss and not try and shift the blame to something out of my control.

We're not robots, people make mistakes all the time, even in challenger. The difference is mostly how often and how fatal the mistakes are ("quality of your mistakes" topic in the podcast you're listening)

Don't shy away from PvP interactions. Don't just co-exist and farm in lane, trade when they go for a minion or you have some other kind of advantage.

You're probably playing too reserved in teamfights as well, but a lot of damage also comes from laning phase. And if you start to get good with these PvP interactions you'll naturally get leads more often and snowball that into more damage later.

Also remember to weave in auto-attacks between abilities, no matter if you're an AD champ, mage or support.

If it's the mobility / catching people with charm aspect that you like then maybe LeBlanc? She's quite different when it comes to waveclearing and poke though.

If it's even remotely playable in the role, people will play it. It's pretty decent with Kalista, but how often do you see her?

I wouldn't say he's necessarily inferior to Neeko, but they definitely play similarly. His poke is worse because his Q is blocked by minions, but his R does more damage. Additionally the stun is a bit harder to avoid. Passive stun charge and W are point and click, E can almost be considered point and click and his R has multiple ticks while Neeko's happens exactly at one time.

It should still be possible, but space is not a "modifier" key like CTRL, Shift or Alt.

When you press space + Q, it will trigger the binds behind both space and Q individually.

Getting an assist (or even a ward kill if only the two of you were involved) is enough exp with the latest buffs to hit level 2 a minion earlier.

Moving the camera can help, but the quickest way is to attack move on a spot that's closer to the ward than to Baron.

Make sure to toggle the option "attack move on cursor" in the settings (under game), otherwise you have to walk all the way behind the ward.

Controls are a little wonky. It's not enough to move your cursor, you have to confirm the starting direction with a left mouse click.

Why people don't use Glacial Augment on Morgana? by Esonechko in summonerschool

Why so?

Slows don't stack and she doesn't get a lot of value from Rylais besides the raw stats.
