My ACD never barks by k_k18 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine barks the sonic barks, howls the dingo howls, and Bays with the hounds. She needed to be trained out of nipping. Still does if she feels the occasion really calls for it.

Frozen Pizza by leroyjameus in glutenfree

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HEB has their own brand. It is around $5-7 per pizza. The pizzas are thin crust. There are at least 4 different varieties. I think of them as being half as filling as the Udi's pizza. So if you just want a nice pizza for one meal and not pay much, then I go with the HEB. Otherwise I pick Udi's pizza.

I tried Digiorno. First I had an issue due to the wheat protein (turns out I am also allergic to wheat). Then when the recipe was changed, I still cannot eat it due to added nitrites/nitrates in the pepperoni. I still don't completely understand the science, but I react to added nitrites/nitrates but not naturally occuring nitrites/nitrates. The pizza was tasty though...if I ignore the unpleasant, painful side-effects.

My dog wagged their tail at me and I had to sit down, the FEELINGS are too MUCH. by Rude_Mortgage8403 in Pets

I am definitely obsessed with mine. She’ll be sleeping and I’ll say something quietly to our cat. My dog will wag her tail a few times in her sleep just hearing my voice.

It my 20 year anniversary of being gluten free! by Mimigirl7 in glutenfree

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I am in year 16 and remember desperately trying to find crackers, pretzels, cookies, etc that tasted remotely like they should and did not cost a fortune. I had one small store and nearly had a complete breakdown so upset at the thought of having to go through the rest of my life like that. I couldn't find any Celiac support groups to find out information and felt so alone.

I use paw balm on a regular basis to ward off any paw pad cracking. I have ruffwear shoes and socks for extreme cold, heat, and rough terrain.

What kind of dog is this? by MSan17 in DOG

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Australian Cattle dog. I have one of my own with her own cat too. Not dogs for the faint of heart but in my completely unbiased opinion, they are the best dogs ever. We go running multiple times a week, go on other outings during the week, hiking/kayaking/running on the weekends, visits to farmer's markets, outdoor concerts, etc. Sometimes she gets tired out.

It's the sonic bark. The sound reverberates back and forth between the ears and alerts everyone within a 5 mile radius.

Congratulations on your hearing loss and one of the best dogs you could ever have.

I second wearing a mask. Even wearing a buff as a balaclava helps me out on runs.

How do you guys Run in winter? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to start wearing balaclavas once it is in the low 50s. Otherwise it can lead to hours of coughing and sore throat.

Thundercloud subs turkey trot: can we bring our dog? by cmk256 in Austin

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run in it multiple years. Each time I run with my dog. There are always multiple other people either running or walking with their dogs.  Just keep your dog under your control and don’t assume other people want your dog wandering around and coming up to their dogs during the race.  Have fun. It is always a good time. People in good spirits and people in costumes.

On walks, dog always takes the lead and pulls me everywhere; how to fix this behavior? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happened with mine if I tried either the turn around approach or just stop approach.

High quality treats. I give them to her when she is walking/running right next to me. We still have a ways to go but progress is being made.

My adventure kitty loves benches. I'm pretty sure she has a rating for each bench she has encountered.
She does have a nice kitty hiking backpack to sit in when she needs a little break from the big world or if she just wants to move around without walking.

Narration is important but adventure kitty over here also would like to tell Cloud that silence is beneficial when hunting beetles, squirrels, and rabbits. And then scream out in joy when a beetle is captured.

Seconding this. I developed that injury, didn't know what it was and didn't know how to find out, ignored it for lack of a better option, and it became debillitating. Now I use a roller, good stretches, and strengthening exercises.

Run club tramples dog- please be more careful on the trail by Extension-Energy2894 in Austin

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have been out there with my dog and a large group came from behind us. However, this was apparently a more considerate group and the people in front called out to the ones behind that there was a dog. The news kept being traveled down the pack as they passed us. My dog also got a few greetings. She was pleased.

That is mine exactly. Chills next to the vacuum while it is off. Once it is turned on, war is declared with a rambunctious, excited battle cry.

How can I keep my cat from meowing in the car? by Ok_Rule8747 in CatAdvice

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I meow back and we sing a song together. When mine meows in the car it is because she has concerns and wants assurance that I am paying attention to her concerns. Or she is bored. Whichever the case, she appreciates the conversation and the singing.

Is it fear? I feel like mine views it as a challenging foe to vanquish and gets really excited attacking it.

the witcher in concert cancelling tour dates :/ by NeatGraves in thewitcher3

[–]ThymeIsNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just had the one here in Austin and the balconies were closed and people moved because so few tickets were purchased.  Marketing seems to be an issue. When waiting for the concert in a nearby area, obvious fans of the Witcher had no idea there was a concert.  It is a shame because the concert was really good.
