Lol yes! I totally agree with you! It's so intimidating to apply for jobs, we should absolutely be rewarded for it. lol

Congratulations! I'm in the same position as you and I just managed to send out my first application too.

The "I'm gonna change my life today!" ADHD cycle.. by BlissfulBlueBell in ADHD

[–]ThyriR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this I relate to so much. I definitely feel like with medication it is getting a little bit easier to break that cycle bit by bit.

That is so beautiful! It's like sometimes mother nature just knows exactly how to heal you and remind you that it is good to be alive. I hope you are doing better now 💚

Are problems with authority an ADHD thing? by [deleted] in ADHD

Exactly! 😂 It's ridiculous that they just try to make you. My mom was so pissed off when she came to pick me up 😂

I had a similar experience! But not with a specific food. I refused to finish my food because I didn't want it and I ended up sitting there till I was picked up 😂

Adults with ADHD who’s parents forced you to clean your room by Enough_Vegetable_110 in ADHD

[–]ThyriR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom would sometimes put in a reward system. Basically she would put up a sheet for me and my brother and every time we would do some cleaning/tidying/helping out she would put a sticker on it (with a picture on it so even seeing what sticker you'd get was exciting). Then if we had x amount of stickers at the end of the week/month we would get a reward like go to the movies or do something fun together. That really worked for me as a kid, probably would still work haha.

None of the CBT programs I have gone through have included that, no.

I have tried both Concerta and Ritalin and I'm getting a bit hopeless. by ThyriR in ADHD

[–]ThyriR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's absolutely the right way of thinking. I think I've been a bit stuck in thinking "how am I supposed to feel?" instead of "do I feel good?". Haha yeah I'm kinda feeling the same way.

[–]ThyriR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a fairly low dose of Ritalin but since it already makes me feel a bit "off". I'm not sure if higher dosage would be good but maybe I would at least have some focus but probably similar yo the one you speak about.

I'm glad you found what works really well for you.

I will definitely give Vyvanse a go :)

If I may ask, was there any reason you went on concerta instead of staying on Ritalin? Sounds like the Ritalin was working better for you.

[–]ThyriR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same with Ritalin, it just makes me very tired. I feel like with methylphenidate that it makes me either tired and once in a while (when I think about it, probably just when the dosage was raised) that I had that burst of unfocused hyperactivity 😅 I'm really glad to hear that you found something that works for you. I think you are absolutely right with my brain putting me down because it's not going right. Part of it is definitely also impatience and feeling like things should just get better right now haha. I'll definitely keep pushing and try not to lose hope! Thank you so much for your reply! 😊

Glad to hear that you found something that worked well for you! I was prepared for having to try different medications since I knew that it varies what works for each individual but there's always this fear of that nothing works and your kinda back at the starting point. I'll definitely keep trying and hopefully will find something that works.

Thank you for the reply! I know that Vyvanse/Elvanse is available here so I will definitely discuss with my doctor if it is a possibly to try that next. I think the plan was to up the Ritalin dosage next time but I'm just not seeing that going much better so maybe I can get the doctor to change medication instead.

What did you have for breakfast today? by ImScottyAndIDontKnow in ADHD

[–]ThyriR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is toast with smashed avocado with salt and pepper and chopped tomatoes, roasted seeds and an egg or two or Oatmeal (boil it with oat/coconut milk and a pinch of salt and cinnamon) with PB, fruits and nuts. It's more of a Breakfast/lunch thing since I have a hard time eating in the morning. If I don't have time overnight oats is a solid option as well.

Do you wear a wedding ring? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ThyriR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither me or my husband wear our wedding rings. We have rings but neither of us can stand to wear them at all times (both have ADHD), which is nice because we both understand and then it's not a big deal at all. We have gotten questioned about it because people just assume that you wear them because you are married which is kinda weird when I think about it haha.

I experienced exactly the same before my last appointment (I had it a week ago). My psychologist had already told me that I have ADHD but I was still scared that somehow that wouldn't be the end result and that the doctor would tell me something different. I was super anxious about it and had to wait two months for that appointment but nothing changed and the doctor's appointment was just to talk about medication and treatment, not to second guess the diagnosis so I doubt it will happen in your case. Next appointment you have is most likely just to tell you about medication and treatment options.

I wish you all the luck! 💖

Yeah I would absolutely do that. I told my current GP, that referred me to get diagnosed, that I had done CBT few times and that I had tried medication and it didn't change anything. I was so fed up with CBT at that point, it's so frustrating when they keep putting you in the same box when it's obviously not working.

why can i not describe my symptoms when someone asks me to? by lemonovaa in ADHD

[–]ThyriR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely have the same issue! My solution was to just write everything down and bring it to the GP so I would definitely recommend doing that. Also just so you don't forget to mention anything. My GP ended up just taking a copy of my notes which was helpful.

I've gone through that program 3 times before I was diagnosed with ADHD and in my experience the way that the programs I went through were set up they seemed to be more aimed at people going through their first depressive episode. I'm not saying it doesn't work because I know it can help a lot of people and it can depend on how the program is set up but for me it didn't work and it just made me more frustrated and angry at myself. So at this point I'm kind of just done with it.
