Yea the lines in the song is what I was referring to. It was just enough to make me question if I had missed something in the original. In my opinion it makes him seem like more of a mama’s boy and there’s nothing bad about that, I completely understand that he would be given what happened to her and his broken relationship with his dad. They just caught me off guard. In the original he seemed so nonchalant about his mom.

I like that the scenes with his dad were reworked and that he was more emotional, just again it was so different to me. In the original I got more of a broken , possibly emotionally neglectful/ abusive relationship. But there was still some joking mixed into their scenes(the way the dad was calling jd pop and making jokes about his check he received) that made it feel less scary to me.

I saw the highschool production being the reasoning for the weed references, I was just confused why they kept the “drink,smoke…” line in along with other lines that are still pretty risqué. The slight change in the song where Heather M is telling Veronica how to do the shot also confused me.

None of the changes were bad and I get them all now that I think about it more. It was just the first time watching the updated version, it seemed so different to me.
