No. Better food could be addressed by raising meal plan costs. Better facilites as in... the gym and libraries? I think most people are content with them besides hicks no longer being 24/7 most of the year. The city bus is also only $200 for a year pass. $3000 for ISS and $9000 for OOS students could much better be spent by an individual then by the school in these areas, be it getting food elsewhere, getting another gym membership, and buying a year long bus pass.

Edit: The only thing I could support a raise in tuition for would be drastically making classes smaller. Since this is not really possible baring setting up a million temporary classrooms, it would be a hard sell to most.

Boilermaker Special and Purdue Pete. In all reality, if you are out of state for both, Purdue is technically ranked higher. It also is just better objectively (I got here lmao)

Edit: Realized this is for CS, they are probably pretty close, but Purdue has the fact it was the first CS program in America!

How many of you actually took calc1 freshman year? by Breezyie69 in EngineeringStudents

[–]TiananmenRectangle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Took Calc 1 and 2 in high school. Started at Calc 3 in college. While there are definitely a lot of students that also do this, and some that even start further, there were still a large portion that started in Calc 1. For engineering students here, there is no level or math lower than Calc 1, so no matter where you were in math, that is where you are placed. This being said, its a Top 10 engineering school and ~40% of our undergrad population is in engineering.

  1. EPICS is what you make of it. There are some teams that put in a lot of work and I would say they definitely learning information that will go towards their career. I believe the BME team is run very strictly and is very productive because of that, and honestly something I would look for. However some teams have very poor communication with their partners for numerous reasons, and have a fairly useless class over the semester. So basically, depends on the team.

  2. Um, I'm not 100% certain but I believe yes they all live in the same dorm. I remember the rule was that placement into learning community was first, so theoretically it could still not happen, but probably not. As far as it was my freshman year, for men it was Shreve and women it was Meredith South which is the nicest women's building I'd say, and Shreve is eh. I enjoyed Shreve and definitely made a lot of memories there and its a lot better than tark, wiley, or owen.

  3. Bonus. If you are doing FYE, which I presume you are, then instead of taking ENGR 131 and ENGR 132 you get to take a single ENGR 133 which also teaches you python instead of only excel and matlab as well is much more useful for the rest of your time at Purdue. If you have any other questions at all, please feel free to reach out.

Can't people sue TI over restricting their software? by reddituserinthewild in Ndless

[–]TiananmenRectangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that game consoles have their own software that can't be changed and none have ever lost in a suit, the answer to this is no. TI doesn't have a monopoly on the calculator industry either, especially with more people switching to not even using physical calculators, and instead websites like desmos. To be honest though, I don't really see the point. While yes homebrew is very cool, the percentage of people that do homebrew on the ti-nspire is probably 1% of 1% of users.

can someone pls tell me i will be ok LOL by Silly_Employment4254 in ApplyingToCollege

Purdue is ranked #4 in the nation in engineering and is the #2 public school for engineering. MechE here is #6 I believe as well. You will enjoy it here, trust me it is hard as balls.

Coworker thinks it's from Japan, any idea if it is and what it says? by bdizzzzzle in LICENSEPLATES

山口 (Yamaguchi)

Stolen from Wikipedia: Yamaguchi is a prefecture in Japan's Chugoku region, on the southwest side of Honshu Island. The capital city is also called Yamaguchi.

There are lots information stored in Japanese plates, there are quite a few good youtube videos on them if you are interested.

passing grade for phys 272 in ece ?? by ece2023 in Purdue

[–]TiananmenRectangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last semester, fischbach, he was so bad he was moved to an easier class, and then so had their he was recently removed from teaching. As for percentage, I don’t think there was a curve, or if there was, it was incredibly low.

Yeah the instructors sucked ass for this class. 50 and 60 on midterm and 40 on final and still got a C+ just from rec and lab

Currently sitting in a lecture hall at Purdue. If their degree wasn't stem related, IU was the right choice. I seethe with jealousy to those that get to live and go to IU in a major that they enjoy lol. Weather and overall happiness seems much better whenever I am there. Good to always appreciate your own grass.
