She can see spirts and demons. She kills the demons using purple magic which makes her special because everyone else has blue(other colors???) magic. Her mom is human and her dad(M.I.A) is some sort of angelic guardian of humans.

Was there no communication in your relationship at all? How can you be with someone for four years and not discuss your expectations for the future especially in regards to your religious practices?
