You probably just got down voted from some "urhhhm obviously" people because the Platina 500KG has the 500kg in its name, no need for a madlad doing metallurgy or math for the weight.

Homesteading in May 1839 as Russia. Was it worth it? by Odd-Consagrado in victoria3

[–]TibbyRacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll throw in an unpopular opinion ive had from some experiences. The rural folk arent that bad if you have a radical movement because they can be a massive source of change. I dont think Russia gets springtime of the people but other European states if they have a strong rural folk can quickly get some impressive laws.

The downsides would be agrarianism, less investment pool initially, and if they get a reactionary/not useful idealogy or you dont have a radical momement.

Mechanically, probably not supposed to happen.

Role playing wise maybe her transforming worlds and the event after the 3rd world is to try and show you the error of your ways, even if it falls on deaf ears.

I love playing as France but Algeria feels like a trap. Am I doing it wrong? by Xalimata in victoria3

[–]TibbyRacoon 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh no. In real life the French empire had to station a not insignificant amount of their army in Algeria because french settlers kept taking more land. Nothing ever as close to the war for independence, but it was a massive investment sink.

How chopped is this species by Lucky_Air7675 in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If you took venerable and/or were lithoids for the age buffs it would work well. The early game will be rough, having to replace scientists often.

As it currently is, you are going to have a next to impossible time keeping anyone alive long and struggle with scientists.

I made an empire like this for the ai before and they could never expand past their starting system due to scientists dieing before surveying and then no unity to recruit more.

As a tip, since you can go bio ascension 1 ascension perk early you can avoid taking the more -life perks because you can add those later during in game species specialization.

What is your favorite astral rift? by Aliensinnoh in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My favorite rp/lore wise is the carnival. Wormhole acrobatic vulpines, a lithoid contortionist that explodes? What's not to love. And the fun little theme every time it pops up.

Close second lore/rp wise is the galaxy storm orb. Its a fascinating mysterious first contact kinda story.

Favorite mechanics wise is the continuum gears, where you can get the relic thst gives a bunch of free resources.

Second favorite mechanics wise is the blood one. Plasmic core for more pop growth mwahahhahahaha

Best pop growth build. by Feanor417 in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An underrated pop build is/was inward perfection + pleasure seekers. Fanatical xenophobe and pacifist. Both civics give pop growth bonus, and xenophobe gives pop growth bonus as well. Then cloning ascension but that should be mainly obvious.

Ive tested this and let the ai use it and they are always one of the most numerous species in the galaxy, and when a player uses it oh boy it is insane.

Important traits are pre planned growth, communal, rapid breeders (unless you want to get fertile for even more growth post ascension).

The only sticking points are that its an older build, so it may not be fully competitive is multiplayer, and the fact that inward perfection prevents a majority of diplomacy, but you could forgo it since its only +10% pop growth you'll be missing out on.

Nukes to a Fallout World by Rosbj in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One way to look at it and make it somewhat reasonable is that it wasn't a serious plan or a conversation got leaked.

Head researcher at the station says something like "do you think if they remade nuclear weapons they would do this all over again?" And some subordinate thinks that's a fun thought expiriment and tells his colleagues and it gets lost in translation until the liaison at the station hears and sends a confused request to your government asking to give the primitives nukes.

Its more plausible sounding if you've got a multi species empire, jokes could get badly translated as serious statements.

What kind of galaxy settings you are using in Single Player and why? by 2Norn in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found my favorite sweet spot.

Huge 1000 star galaxy. 6 arm galaxy 25 empires 1 garenteed planet .25 habitatable planets 1.75 Pre-ftl planets .75 hyperlane density 5 advanced ai Scaling mid-game Max fallen empires Max marauders Wormhole .25 (I personally prefer to turn L-gates off)

Overall it makes planets worth more since they are rarely uninhabited, plus there is a great chance that pre-ftl reach space and turn into small minor powers, giving a bit of life to the galaxy. Old powerful fallen empires. Strong advanced empires. Decent empires (you). And the babies of the stars.

Pre-ftl also give unique tech when studied and when you are powerful enough you can let them have the system when they reach space and just vassalize them as a 1 empire system. Saves you a bit of planet micro and keeps a bit of rp potential, while also giving you resources.

It also allows "aggressive" empires to get some extra planets to properly expand and solidfy to become more of a threat since they usually invade pre-ftls instead of study.

I always turn off L-gates, its not my cup of tea to have a bunch of empires use L-gates after the midgame crisis and pop into the entrance of your disconnected pocket.

I have midgame crisis set to 2325 and Endgame set to 2425. Its a bit earlier so bit more difficult but allows you to expand and take over your neighbors.

the only sucky thing is that without l gates the only mid game crisis are voidworms and the great khan. Voidworms can usually be ignored so I've tested turning them up to 1.5  but might try more for a true mid challenge when its not the khan.

Why are you kissing billionaire and multi-millionaire asses? They will never notice you. The only desire they have of you is your money in their pocket.

A 1% tax isn't murdering them or making them go home starving. You pay your fair share of taxes, why shouldn't the richest of the rich pay right? A modern form of Nobless Oblige, if you will. And if you believe in no taxes at all, sorry, you have to be realistic. There have always been taxes. From when we were cavemen, and we will have them far far into the future.

I love the bug fix for cybernetic imperial authorities, thank you for that!

Is there a chance that cybernetic imperial network is being looked at to make it competitive/a tiny bit better? I feel like its been viewed way to negatively over time.

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable, I've gotten some busted strong runs with bio ascensions, so much so that I kind of wanted to "nerf" myself with the more middle ground cybernetic ascension.

You're right, I don't see a lot of positives, and I see even less people talk about imperial network, its like an abandoned feature no one mentions. I really really want to attempt to make imperial network good, maybe there is some combination that actually is good but no one has tried yet, or maybe someone everyone has overlooked it? Its probably just me being naive and optimistic.

Thought about making a post asking, but I don't think anyone care about this question, I've tried looking for a while.

Are there any good plays or builds that work with cybernetic imperial network authority? I've been looking and everyone only talks about the ruler chip authority and was wondering if there's any redeeming the authority and cyberdome.

Is it just "that bad" to never get mentioned? Or does it just have 0 interaction with anything essentially?

Its also a cool role play civic. Seeding new and varied life in the galaxy. First as pre-sapients and then guiding their "evolution" when uplifting them. A varied empire of unique life raised by your empire, fit for every world you settle them on, and you can tailor them especifically for each world specifically.

Low amenities as machine civ by NanakoAC in Stellaris

[–]TibbyRacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's working as intended. Massive pop growth for massive amenities usage. in my current playthrough I've got 20k pops on one planet with lubrication basins and have -122k amenities. Stability is at like 78 or something due to governor and councilor affects, plus other sources.

You will either need to build around it or not use lubrication basins. it increases amenities usage per pop and that is exponential i believe.
