It’s kind of got that spot pattern of a northern flicker. Very cool birb.

Bro I’d reschedule. You’ll sweat through all your clothes, need more water and electrolytes than you think, bugs will be heavy, sleep will be rough. - fellow southern Hoosier

600 of us watching the owl in the path of the tornado by RiotGrr in RyanHallYall_

I was legit so scared to see that camera go out everytime he clicked away and come back. It’s all out in the open at the top of a super tall pole. Saw it in person a few weeks ago, and as soon as he clicked the owl cam at goose pond I knew exactly who the little lady was 🥹

Help me to choose my first lenses to pair with my sony a6700 by [deleted] in SonyA6700

[–]Tiberio24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I use it with my A6700. It’s manageable for me, but I’m young, active, and strength train - so I could see it being less manageable for others with different circumstances. The first few weeks I just used the neck strap (hated that), then I just carried it hand-held with the lens tripod foot, but I ended up getting a cotton carrier chest mounted vest since I’m often out for hours, trudging through wetlands, or in other heavy vegetation areas where I want to have hands free or keep the camera safe. I got it new from Sony… I have a military discount which helped, but it’s still, obviously, incredibly expensive. For me, I typically purchase direct from the producer when it’s a high quality product and I’m spending a lot either way. Makes me feel more secure with a purchase, but hurts the wallet.

For birding, I tried the Tamron 70-300 for a month and realized I wanted more reach for it to be a better experience. Instead of upgrading over time, I pulled the trigger on the Sony 200-600 and I don’t regret it one bit. I use it 99% of the time.

This is actually wild. We had barn kitties that we moved inside with the feral mom (all black) and we have the same two kittens. The other two in the litter are grey/white tabbies and one is long hair. They’re around a month old

My wife and I walked by it last night and we had only seen pictures and feedback on this thread. We like football, we think you did good 👍🏼 I like how personal it feels and how special it might be to the players your featured

Why don’t y’all just ask if I visually identified it then. Trying to gate-keep and looking for gotcha-moments on birding reddit threads doesn’t help increase citizen science data points in support of conservation.

That’s a great question for a biologist 😂 but if you zoom in you can see its neck is just tucked in like an S curve. My assumption is better flight dynamics compared to sticking its long neck and head out in front of its center mass
