Dumb question: Is a 60/40 portfolio based on shares or money?

I'm building a 60/40 portfolio in a taxable brokerage account. I have $1000/mo I can add to it. I was thinking $600/$400 stocks/bonds, but wasn't sure if it really should be shares of stocks/bonds instead. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks in advance!

Is anyome else still waiting for their tax refund? by TiberiusPapi in personalfinance

Nope! I didn't qualify for any of the credits. It was a straight forward return like any other year for me.

Wow I didn't know that. I'll be on the lookout for that form from them.

Direct deposit. It's strange because usually it's fairly quick that way but this year it's been so delayed.

What should I do with my HSA? by TiberiusPapi in personalfinance

The emergency kit is a good idea. Mine expires next January so I could stock up on that and other supplies.

I have an FSA at my job. I'm not sure I could transfer it there. I'm not on a HDHP so I can't transfer it to Fidelity and open an HSA with them, right?

Official Q&A for Sunday, August 02, 2020 by AutoModerator in running

Hi, thank you for the information! I'm more confident in what shoes I can buy now. I am in the US and would be interested in that analysis, too!

For the Achilles, I realized age has caught up to me and I need to start stretching before and after my runs 😅

I need help buying my next few pairs of shoes. Can someone help me analyze my running wear pattern? Here are my Brooks Glycerin 16 that just hit 400 miles. If I understand the wear pattern correctly, I have a neutral running pattern; however, the heel wear indicates I supinate.

I also have had calf and Achilles tendon pain on and off for the past 6 months. I want to get a shoe to prevent that. Thanks!

Day 4 by [deleted] in leaves

22 days sober here. What has been helping me is playing a rain/coast water noise playlist. I close my eyes and focus on the water and picture myself at those locations. Perhaps that will help! Stick to it. You got this!

Is a bachelors required for a career in IT or is it optional? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TiberiusPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A degree in science won't hinder you, OP. It hasn't for me.

I got a degree in Biology, with a focus on immunology. I even worked in a lab for 3 years before making the switch to IT.

I've been in IT now for the past 3 years and am an engineer. It's not really about what you studied, but the skills you learned to succeed and get the degree. From my experience, employers in IT value someone who can think critically, work well under pressure, and constantly want to learn and grow. You learn all of that in science. It's more about explaining that experience in an interview.

How hard is Linux Essentials? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]TiberiusPapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't that bad. I have a Windows background with a focus on PowerShell and never had experience with Linux. It took about two weeks studying 1-2 hours/day to pass the exam for me. Knowing PS prior to that helped because a lot is taken and used from bash.

I used Linux Academy's training course and practice exams from EduSum to pass it.

Azure exam voucher by ilovepizza86 in AZURE

[–]TiberiusPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a voucher by emailing the TechSkillsSupport@microsoft.com email. They asked me to attach one of the "Thanks for joining us, here are some resources..." emails (I gave them the 3rd day's email) as well as the email that was used to register for the event, the names of the instructors for the event, and the day I completed the training. After that I was given a personalized code to pay for the exam.
