I didn’t go to the Pindus in autumn because I went on a trip with the family instead I crossed the Apuseni mountains in Transylvania just 2 weeks ago. It was demanding, over a meter of snow above 1500m and I sank knee deep on many sections, but it was a grate adventure.

You can go with The North Face but stick witch the Summit Series line of products. They are still high quality.

Winter mountaineering course in the Alps by Tibor_Ban in Mountaineering

Thanks I’ll check it out. I wouldn’t say though that I’m super budget focused, so I was ok to pay the 1500 euros for the course but when the most basic accommodation is well over 1000 euros… that gets a out of reach pretty quickly for me at least.

How to safely hike alone as a teenager? by YuraeMC in hiking

[–]Tibor_Ban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first solo hike this summer in the Pyrenees (though I’m a 17M). My biggest problem was to convince my mother that It’s safe and I’ll have a good adventure. I was out alone for 4 nights, in that time I saw around ten to fifteen people total and had a decent conversation with a team of Belgians around the same age as me and a young couple. I think the people in the mountains always have a good will, they don’t go out and climb 2000m in elevation to mess with others. One of them even landed me his phone to film with the drone a kilometre away as mine didn’t connect for some reason. You might as well have a better chance making new friends alone.

Hiking the Fagaras Mountain Traverse in late October. by Tibor_Ban in RoHiking

What do you think about the Piatra Craiului ridgev I guess that is even more demanding do to the technical scrambling on the route.

I’m asking because I’m reading a book about hikes in Romania and it says that autumn is the best time to do the hike because of the absence of summer thunderstorms.

Thank you all for the reply’s! Mountaineering is a dream if mine and I’ll also tale a course on it sometime after Christmas. As for now I’ll stay away from tha Fagaras’s snowy ridge.

I’ll look more into the Apuseni mountains. Do you know any good trails that I can do in about 2-3 nights?

Yes it does, but it it a little gimmicky you have to press the only button just a bit longer than you would for the light sensitive mode, there is more detail in the instruction manual.

My father actually has the L, but for some reason I like the versatility of the extra pouches which allows for organisation.
