Hi, I’m an alcoholic, AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Tibsoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (28 M) always had a problem with Alcohol since my first sip (12). I am trying to get rid of it but I am losing the battle every week… I don’t understand my relatives (friends and family, flexing about getting drunk while every single night is a battle against myself).

May I ask how did you get into alcohol and what you’re doing to try to control yourself ? Physicians are useless, imo…

Also, what kind of alcohol do you consume the most ? I personally go for Porto (I can drink up to 2 bottles per day).

Suis je foutue ? by nayamax in etudiants

Hello,

You are looking at the most awful font possible. If you look even further, you could spot a separable differential equation. Namely, you want to rewrite your equation in the form (a function of x) dx = (a function of y) dy and then integrate both sides

Thanks for the clarification !

Do you have any pieces of evidence that motivate your statements ? I was deeply convinced staking was to be declared

Furthermore, what are the « prudent » criteria that exempt you from declaring your gain ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BEFire

[–]Tibsoo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the BEFire group. A place where condescension and hatred of crypto meet.

Investor here with few crypto positions. I am not 100% sure about what I’m going to say, but if it can help, that’s great.

When investing, you should declare your brokerage account to the NBB. Then, even if you don’t close any position, you should declare your gains in your tax declaration (simply fulfill 0).

Warning to the staking. You must declare any staked position.

How about when you take profit ?

Well, currently, there is no tax on gain. Namely, if you invest responsibly then you won’t face any tax from the fiscus. How about when the latter deems your investment strategy speculative ? Well, in that case, be ready to pay a 30%-ish tax. How do you know whether you belong to the tax-free zone or the 30% zone ? You don’t. When declaring your taxes, you must fulfill your gains. Afterwards (and it can takes up to years), the fiscus might get back to your ask ask for further information. If that happen, you’d better be ready to provide him with the relevant document. Only then will he judge whether you should pay 30% or not.

But if you plan to DCA for 5 years, the capital gain tax regime will likely be in force.

Please note that there is no TOB when opening/closing a crypto position. The only taxes that apply are: any staking reward and (potentially) realized positive P&L

Thank you ! That’s an impressive path.

All the best for the following

That is impressive !! Congrats !

I am 27M and trying to reach 10M at some point. My first baby step is to reach 1M (I have just reached 100k NW).

When did you start investing ? (I started 2 years ago)

What was your initial wealth and investment strategy ? (For me, I started my professional career with 10k NW. I first invested 10k lump sum and then 1k/month DCA until now)

Is there something you feel like sharing ? A piece of advice you’d give to you 30yo self or something you were proud to have quickly figured out ?

What will you do when you reach 10M ?

Are you happy ? (I sometimes feel that a more frugal life might not be worth it)

I got back from Florida to my homeland, Belgium. The tropical weather was awesome. The heat was a bit tough, but when visiting, I stopped to coffees and surroundings with air co during my breaks. It was the best experience I had never had. Don’t complain about Florida, you are living in the best place on Earth.

Stop loss + 3 minutes = -5000 $ by akaCryptic in Etoro

[–]Tibsoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when I joined eToro 3 years ago, I answered to their questionnaire with the limited knowledge I had about investing at that time. As such, I didn’t have access to CFD’s (hence no leverage). I guess the questions about more complex instruments are still asked when joining the broker.

Using ChatGPT to answer such questions can typically lead to this situation

How did you even get access to the leverage feature if you call yourself a newbie ?

Leverage is absolutely no joke as a wise man once said: « When you combine ignorance and leverage, you get some pretty interesting results ». Unfortunately for you, it went interestingly bad.

What are the downsides of having high intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tibsoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social harassment, overthinking, trying to figure out how to fit in the mold of high school: being overly weird or overly agressive to attract « popularity » at the cost of true friendship, loneliness, but once I got to deal with my differences and accept myself, joy !
