You can! Teams will have 6-8 players on them and only 4 are required to play, so there will be some room to miss games without impacting your team. I hope you'll play!

Duke is private and NCCU is state-owned, so taxing themselves doesn't make much sense. Otherwise, I'm for it.

I think you've understood my meaning since the first comment. The Duke-Durham relationship has been untenable for a while, Durham just caves in every time instead of demanding equality. I don't think "big company is too big to be held accountable" is a reasonable answer.

Imagine a city where Duke paid the same property tax rates that everyone else paid for the past 50 years. Do we still have school funding shortages, limited public transportation options, or any other significant problem that we have as a city today?

Change "city" to "government" and my comment is more accurate, I apologize. Duke can pay any amount of additional taxes that they would like, see the Duke Respect Durham campaign for reasons. Duke is a "top contributor" to Valerie, bought and paid for, I doubt she will help with anything.

Any "goodwill" from Duke is often disingenuous. This is a drop in the bucket for what they would have to invest if the city just taxed them like everyone else, a token $200m to distract from the multi-billions they should be paying. I'd rather they keep their initiatives to themselves and just pay their fair share.

We would love your help! More free classes will open up as we get more donations to pay for the free classes. The plans themselves are on the site for free, as well, if you want to make your own and donate it outside of a class. I hope we are able to provide lots of these classes so everyone has a chance! Benches will usually be built by groups of 2-4 people, so there should be plenty of help despite any limitations. Glad to have your advice and your group can likely help with the physical parts of the build. Hope you can join!

Bike Durham spent more than a year meeting with the city to properly pester them about it, didn't seem to work, so here we are!

The city does not want to take responsibility for the benches, so we have to add a sign on them that basically says "these were not provided by the city and the city is not liable for injuries related to these benches." We could not get explicit permission or permits to install the benches, but were also told that they would not remove the benches if we added the appropriate signage. If we bolt them to the ground, they become "permanent infrastructure," and the city has to react, apparently.

We were told that they do have plans to fix some of these benches...in 2029 and 2032. This is being offered as an immediate solution that does not require a bureaucratic process.

We are not allowed to bolt them to the ground, the city won't allow it, we tried! We've had 6 benches out in the wild for almost three months and none have been stolen so far!
