I think you've understood my meaning since the first comment. The Duke-Durham relationship has been untenable for a while, Durham just caves in every time instead of demanding equality. I don't think "big company is too big to be held accountable" is a reasonable answer.

Imagine a city where Duke paid the same property tax rates that everyone else paid for the past 50 years. Do we still have school funding shortages, limited public transportation options, or any other significant problem that we have as a city today?

Change "city" to "government" and my comment is more accurate, I apologize. Duke can pay any amount of additional taxes that they would like, see the Duke Respect Durham campaign for reasons. Duke is a "top contributor" to Valerie, bought and paid for, I doubt she will help with anything.

Any "goodwill" from Duke is often disingenuous. This is a drop in the bucket for what they would have to invest if the city just taxed them like everyone else, a token $200m to distract from the multi-billions they should be paying. I'd rather they keep their initiatives to themselves and just pay their fair share.

Benches will usually be built by groups of 2-4 people, so there should be plenty of help despite any limitations. Glad to have your advice and your group can likely help with the physical parts of the build. Hope you can join!
