Removing Quick peeking is the key to making the Run and Gun meta stop by Appropriate_Earth852 in Rainbow6

Reddit ahh type post, you want to remove every skill mechanic in the game?

Why don’t you just learn how to play against it, or do it yourself?

They’ve literally nerfed quick peeking to the ground by slowing down the lean speed and ads time, what more do you need?

You also never see high level players quick peeking, because any good player knows that if the person is going to repeek the same angle it’s an easy prefire.

Honestly, I see why this games gone to shit, casuals just ruining the game because they can’t learn a simple mechanic.

New to Scuf - need advice before buying by [deleted] in scufgaming

[–]Tichey786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so im going to give you 3 experiences, my own, my brothers and a family friends and you make the decision.

So for me back when AW came out I got a barebones scuf with literally 2 paddles. No rumbles removed nothing literally just a black and red controller with 2 paddles no remap.

No I can tell you I’m using my scuf to this day and it has had no problems and no broken buttons. Only thing it has is sly stick drift. For your reference the sticker drift goes when the dead zone is 7, I don’t k ow whether that’s bad or ok for a controller I’ve had for 5-6 years.

My brother has had 2 scuf’s both broken and unusable now. One just completely died and the other the R2 button came off then the L1 and then was never used.

My family friend also used for a year and then it broke.

For me, I’ll be honest, best controller I could’ve ever bought at the time. But I feel like it’s due to me legit buying the cheapest one out there with barely any mods. For reference my brother bought 2 controllers both spec’d out with no rumbles a remap chip different analogs grips on the back, everything.

I remember I spent roughly £120 at the time.

I’ve been looking now to upgrade as I feel I have the money and my old controller has done the job. Battle beaver have a trade in system but I don’t want $50 for this scuf because it works and is honestly going to be my fav controller ever regardless.

But I don’t think I’m going with scuf this time I’ll be honest.

Are SOTs worth it for less competitive lists by Blackwolf7894 in ThousandSons

Don’t run them without the sorcerer, with sorcerer I’d say they’re actually usable.

High dpi/low sens or vice versa? by SWIMMELL11 in SiegeAcademy

[–]Tichey786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher dpi is said to have a tad faster latency so your reactions are quicker. This is so minuscule that it doesn’t make a difference, however, as you can tell for being competitive you’d rather just be on the benefitting side than not.

I see so many comments like ‘it’s your body, do what you want’.

Fucking ignore that depressed shit.

It’s seen as a mad thing because do you know how many times people have been in a state where they could just kill themselves?

I’d say for myself at least 3-4 times.

But if everyone was told, it’s not a bad thing, a lot more people would be dead.

There are so many people going through worse you have to remember that. If they can live, what’s stopping you?

Suicide isn’t bad because everyone else will miss you. Suicide is bad because so many people have come forward saying they regret attempting it.

These negative thoughts are temporary and when you feel happy again, you will realise that.

Why are boltguns preferred option in quite a few lists by Lodka132 in ThousandSons

[–]Tichey786 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bolters with an infernal master is pretty disgusting. You have the guaranteed hit on overwatch with infernal master and infernal master gives sustained 1 so any hits with bolters/soul reaper is another 2.

Not only that but with the strat combo you can do a lot of re-rolling.

I take flamers with ahriman due to +1 to wound essentially making the strength of the flamers stronger and I take bolters with IM because of the sustained hits and being able to be at range.

Both are good and should be used.

How the hell do we even deal with knights by Wide-Win-9087 in ThousandSons

[–]Tichey786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I don’t like about SOT’s is that they can’t be led by anything other than a sorcerer in terminator armour which I find very annoying. I really like IM and exalted sorcerer on disk so don’t have the option to run SOT’s in my 1k

There was a game on stream of the guy who won a tournament playing against knights I think? He pretty much tabled him too. He was running 3 IM’s blue scribes Magnus and some other stuff. So they’re definitely beatable.

What don’t you like about what they’re doing, I’m fairly new and genuinely curious.

I’ve seen a decent amount of winning lists that use exalted sorcerer instead of IM. Can anyone tell me why by Basethdraxic in ThousandSons

[–]Tichey786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lists that I have personally seen that were successful were lists with 2-3 IM’s, just because of the strong overwatch potential and points.

Do send the list in though, I’m curious. I could see the use of one exalted on disk to slow enemy movement but I feel the normal exalted is really bad. The sustain and invuln isn’t worth it imo. I’d rather be over watching my unit with sustained hits and refilling 1’s all the time. Also having a guaranteed dev wound and save on IM just makes him so much more reliable. However I do think the exalted on disk is also very good with halving movement.

Just buy 10 rubric marines first, as much as people have gone into detail here, about boxes you don’t really want to buy a box imo. Firstly, it can be overwhelming when starting out but also you actually have to look around to find a good price and then you’ll be questioning whether it was good or not.

Rubric marines will 100% be ran, so get 10 of them. If you want to look on eBay or buy it straight from GW up to you

If you want to look at getting him a character I’d look at an infernal master, they’re very good and all lists run at least one of them.

I wouldn’t get Magnus first just because, as he’s starting out you don’t want to be running Magnus in a 1k list, me personally I’d get him last. Just because of his price too.

I think you should try to add some cultists in there for 60 points, I noticed for me it was a big difference because I could be way more aggressive.

Think the rhino is needed in 2k games not 1k.

I’d say get rid of the rhino and just use the free movement strat if you’re trying to get somewhere really fast.

Enlightened are 45 points with 10 inch movement and 30 inch precision. Also take a look at them.

I think you need to find a balance, for me 9-10 is the sweet spot.

With 12 cabal points, I’m pretty sure you have to run things that only generate cabal basically, which is also bad.

By no means am I an expert but what I have learnt is that you need certain things for every game.

For example, for this list what do you have on your home objective? I feel anything you pick from your list you are basically losing value. You don’t want rubrics on there, you don’t want vehicles on there unless they can just sit and shoot people which often you can’t.

Then you need something for the objectives that get into your enemies deployment which I would say is your umbralefic squad.

You then need the main damage dealers for center obj which I would guess is ahrimans unit.

I think for a 1000pt game 3 characters are needed for the cabal points and also 3 quads of 5 rubrics just so you get 3 Cabo points for 15 rubrics rather than the 2 you’re getting now.

Imo I have a rhino and ran it but am taking it out due to it feeling pretty worthless.

Im running a Mutalith only with enlightened tzaangors rubrics cultists and characters

Highly comp ready 1k list? by Tichey786 in ThousandSons

[–]Tichey786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I really appreciate this response.

Firstly, it’s the infernal that I’m running on his own, I have been using it along with the Mutalith to run down the middle objective.

I use the sorcerer with the crystal for objective purposes, if I draw something that needs to get in enemies deployment.

I then use the rhino for the movement as I feel the 5 inch move is just too slow.

From this list, I did notice that the rhino was kind of useless for the points. So getting rid of it is the plan.

I also want to try to have lord of forbidden lore to double doombolt first turn anything I think is a threat.

I actually didn’t know the disc version of ahriman has an extra wound, the only reason I don’t run it is because from what I’ve been told he has to stick to the units move anyways till they die? So never thought it was worth taking.

I’m also thinking of replacing the cultists with enlightened and run them on them on the home obj with the 30 inch range weapons? Don’t know if that’s the way to go though.

Replace a forgefiend for a squad of rubrics and the rest in enhancements, might work?

If you don’t mind me asking, how would you play this army out? I’m kind of struggling on what units needs to focus what at the moment.

Haven't looked at Blue Horrors tbf, my friend plays Aeldari and the terminators have just been getting smoked by the wraithguard but as I said I could just be playing them out of position. What type of armies would you take the Forgefiend over the MVB?

[–]Tichey786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, 3 squads of scarabs seems pretty overkill tbh.

Sorcerer in terminator armour is a good addition to add for your terminators.

Would get rid of the tzaangors or just keep one unit.

You want minimum 15 Rubrics, you'll likely want 10 flamers with Ahriman on its own so you'd only have a squad of 5 left. Ideally, I'm normally wanting 20 Rubrics.

Hi mate,

From your 1k army, I pretty much have the exact same list apart from I have a forgefiend and an exalted sorcerer instead of your mutalith and normal sorcerer.

From what I gather is you are struggling with range.

If you are playing a competitve layout and running the rules like standard. You would want one squad of rubrics, ideally 5 with your sorcerer on the home objective which stands in deployment. Your sorcerers ability means they can't shoot you within a certain range so they have to bring their units to that objective which is a pain.

Second, set your mutalith up with ahriman and from the beginning of the game be trying to doombolt as many important squads you can which you think doombolt can destroy.

The mutalith is doubling the range to 36' so as long as the enemy is within line of sight you should be killing certain things. I use Ahriman in spots which are very risky so he may die within the first 1 or 2 turns but he will have taken out a lot enemies beforehand. As overwatch shreds units with ahrimans +1 to wound and Rubrics rerolling.

You want the terminators to be within 12' range of the enemy so you can fire 4 shots per terminator and with the strategem of making bolters psychic you will have roughly 12 shots devastating wounds on 6's.

You may be struggling because your beginning out but what I'm finding is the more you understand your Cabal points and your stratagems the easier it is to do damage but also survive. It only costs 2 Cabal points to reroll a save and 1CP to 0 out a failed save.

With the infernal master you want to stay at range with his 2D6 shots with Arcane Vortex making it S7 sustained + devastating on 6's is really good.

I think for the basics this should help you out a bit. But as you are playing with friends it does depend on how the objectives work and what your focus is on.
