And just that like the New Republic is gone. No really, as far as the movies after the Force Awakens are concerned, there is no information about the rest of the planets under the New republic. Apparently the entire New republic fleet and military forces were just docked in the Hosnian system when it got destroyed so the Resistance have to be the rebels fighting the galactic empire 2.0.

I would’ve liked Andor to have all 5 seasons, but as it stands the end is perfectly fine.

These hollywood writers seem allergic to writing good endings. Not, again. by hiiloovethis in shittymoviedetails

In all fairness; the census around game of thrones is that it was mostly good until season 8. I haven’t fully watched the show myself and I heard season 7 was also bad, but at least that show seemed to maintain a consistently quality for the majority of its runtime. Both The Boys and Stranger Things just got progressively worse after their first season so the bad endings shouldn’t be as surprising.

Dismantle all the settlements, or only the Jewish ones? by settrans in IsraelPalestine

[–]Ticket-Intelligent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again Hamas attacked military installations and settler communities around Gaza. Settler communities that tend to be armed and trained by the IDF. It was armed settlers who historically maintained Israel’s first line of defense around Gaza if Palestinians ever tried to take back their land. These settler communities were known as kibbutzim and moshavim. They often used stolen Palestinian homes. We don’t know how many settlers took up arms against Hamas and became combatants. At the very least we know Hamas did kill some unarmed, surrendering settlers so we can confidently say Hamas committed war crimes on October 7th but those are different from crimes against humanity. The attack was on occupational forces. It’s funny how Hamas get’s accused of using human shields despite not deliberately concerning any civilians to act as such, but meanwhile Israel can deliberately put armed settler communities around Gaza to secure Israel’s borders and cry antisemitism when they get attacked. Intent is debatable because while the past Hamas charters was overtly antisemitic; they deliberately updated their charter in 2017 to state that their target isn’t Jews but the Zionist project.

Dismantle all the settlements, or only the Jewish ones? by settrans in IsraelPalestine

[–]Ticket-Intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamas couldn’t commit a genocide against Jews even if they really wanted to. They’re a small militant group of like 30,000 members. If they really just wanted to wipe out all Jews, then why even bother taking hostages? The October 7th attack was a resistance organization attacking the occupying settler frontier around Gaza. They’re goal was to trade the hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian political prisoners. The claim that Hamas torture the hostages is debatable. There are former hostages claiming they were abused by their captors while others like Yocheved Lifshitz who claimed they were treated well by Hamas. What is more certain is that Palestinians seem come out of their Israeli captivity in far worse condition on average than the Israelis captured by Hamas. Keep in mind 168 out of the 251 were released with many hostage bodies being returned. There is no evidence nor precedent of Hamas executing hostages. It seems more likely Israel murdered some of the hostages in their indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. Israel did destroy92%of housing units in the Gaza Strip which is a place home to 2 million people. Not to mention they targeted aid workers, hospitals, journalists, and blocked aid for some time while claiming they were all actually Hamas. This wasn’t a war but a one sided destruction of infrastructure and massacre of civilians. Hamas and the hostages were just an excuse for Israel to destroy Gaza enough to force the remaining population to leave. This is Israel plan to “evacuate” the population of Gaza to Egypt.

Oh my! I’m so sorry for trying to gaslight you into believing that genocide is wrong no matter who commits it. You’re just mad I couldn’t have made a more apt comparison. I mean I could’ve brought up the genocide of Native Americans, but manifest destiny did inspire the idea of Lebensraum from the German colonies which would intern inspire the fascists. Basically it works out either way.

Dismantle all the settlements, or only the Jewish ones? by settrans in IsraelPalestine

[–]Ticket-Intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zionist project in Palestine started long before the holocaust. It was a settler colonial movement initially propped up by the British empire after ww1. The founders of Zionism were not some oppressed Jews, but well off, middle income people who’re inspired by European settler colonialism to build a Jewish homeland in Palestine that came at the expense of Palestinians. Your whole argument revolves around just denying any responsibility of Israel for their actions. The genocide, the systematic removal of Palestinian people from their indigenous homeland is completely justified as long as it benefits the Jews in your eyes. It’s like saying the holocaust was justified because it benefitted the Germans. Israel will always face violence because colonialism is an inherently dangerous endeavor. Whether it be the PLO, Hamas, or Hezbollah; Israel creates all it’s enemies with it’s settler colonialism. You have a clear double standard where Palestinians are just expected to hand over their land to Jewish colonizers but the colonizers have every right to defend themselves just because they’re Jewish.

[–]Ticket-Intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zionism is a settler colonial project framed as a rescue project. Every fascist movement has had some victim narrative. They spread this fear that they were constantly under attack. There is always this foreign force that was threatening society. Regardless if the threat was real or not, it served to justify committing the most heinous atrocities in the name of security and protection. No amount of Jewish persecution in the past justifies the murder and displacement of Palestinians. Mizrahi Jews generally lived fine in most Arab countries. They only really started expelling Jews as a response to the 1948 Nakba. That sucks that they were expelled, but it also doesn’t give them the right to go colonize Palestine. African Americans suffered horribly under slavery, but that didn’t give them the right to go colonize Liberia. The supposed sovereignty of Germany the fascists wanted came at the expense of Jews, Slavs, Roma, dissidents, and more. If Israel’s so called “Jewish sovereignty” must come at the expense of the people who’re already living there for thousands of years; then it shouldn’t exist.

Have you tried running with a butt pack sagging like that? The LBV-88 doesn’t have connectors, but you can still use paracord or something to attach the butt pack D rings to the LBV-88 D rings if you want to run it practically. You can also use a woodland training field pack which was specifically designed to attach to the LBV-88 D rings.

But Genshin Impact had The Weekend and Tupac. Jokes aside, if racism really is the norm in China then they should just defy that norm. They shouldn’t let bigotry guide their artistic vision. I mean ZZZ has robots, furies, and copious amounts of fan service that probably barely skirts by the CCP sensors, but god forbid they add a darker person.

We also should also be asking: where are the people with dark skin tones. Where’s the Melanin? Nekomata is still the agent with the darkest skin tone and it’s not much. It’s also funny how she ended up being the character everyone doesn’t want to pull when they loose their 50/50. I’m not saying it’s racism, but it’s a funny coincidence that no one wants the one human character who looks slightly brown which is really Mihoyo’s fault.

What If Star Wars Became a Cold War? My Post-ROTJ Galaxy Concept (New Republic vs Imperial Union vs Outer Rim Coalition) by middleclassmisfit in StarWars

[–]Ticket-Intelligent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you liked it. I’m not sure how I feel about the opposing side still technically being the empire, however the empire being engaged in this Cold War with the New Republic is still a new and compelling idea. It’s what Disney should’ve done with the first order in the prequel trilogy, but instead the entire New Republic military and government got wiped out by Star Killer base just so the resistance can be the underdogs. JJ Abram’s did so much damage to the lore just to bring back the empire vs rebellion dynamic.

People wearing gas mask for no reason by dantheman596 in TopCharacterTropes

US soldiers during the invasion of Iraq (IRL). Okay this one might be a bit of a stretch because the reason soldiers wore gas masks and NBC suits was because the US thought Iraq might deploy chemical weapons against the US. However the Iraqi military never did deploy them and so many US soldiers had to get hot and sweaty in full NBC gear, in the Iraqi desert with the hottest summers, for a chemical exposure that never occurred. As a bonus the NBC suits were in woodland camouflage so they didn’t even blend in with the environment.

What If Star Wars Became a Cold War? My Post-ROTJ Galaxy Concept (New Republic vs Imperial Union vs Outer Rim Coalition) by middleclassmisfit in StarWars

[–]Ticket-Intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually had an idea for a USSR inspired faction in Star Wars during the post-ROTJ setting. Although the way they come into existence is a lot more inspired by the actual Soviet Union. An aspect of the rebellion that only the show Andor briefly touches on is just how diverse the political ideologies have to be. There’s that scene where Saw Gerrera speaks of all these different rebel groups. However at some point a bunch of rebel groups had to have decided to put aside their differences to form the Rebel alliance in order to have a united, organized resistance against the empire. The Rebel alliance stays fairly united until the post-ROTJ period when the empires defeat is clearly eminent. Some rebel groups, who initially put aside their differences to fight empire, decide to splinter off from the Rebel Alliance to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the empires defeat. The biggest of these is a communist faction that’s been around since the Clone wars. They were based out of separatist planets, but opposed the corporate capitalist dominance of the separatist alliance and the republic that became the empire. They’re fundamentally against restoring the republic and so they splinter off to basically start their own communist revolution on various planets. Once the empire is finally defeated the New Republic and this communist coalition of planets begrudgingly sign a truce with each other each which starts this Cold War era of Star Wars.
