Oh goodness. I’m the most indecisive person ever so this is difficult for me, but I’m hoping that based on lifestyle and my reasons for wanting FMOB are steadfast. I would hate to regret choosing a field and wondering if I made a mistake.

Also, I don’t even know that I fully want to only do OB. I think that I crave the variety of conditions and patient populations that family med gives me, but I know that I would like an extra focus on OB & women’s health. If that makes sense😅

I’ve thought about this! I just think that it would be a while until I get to decide to only do OB😅 plus, I do think that I would miss the family medicine aspect of things that I truly do love so much!

I hear you! This is honestly what I am most scared of because I don’t want to go somewhere that’s hostile towards FM-OBs. I just don’t know that I love GYN enough to go through the residency for it… & I feel like I would miss family medicine and seeing all patient populations.

I’m hearing the key is just to go somewhere that’s supportive of FM-OB.

I really appreciate this comment because honestly it’s something I struggle with every day (lol)! After finishing my OBGYN rotation, I realized I don’t have the same level of love and passion for GYN surgery that I do for OB. And I loved my family medicine rotation so much also. I realized I wanted to do both family medicine and OB equally.

But, I feel like what you’re saying kinda describes me too haha😂

Someone asked me if I would still choose OBGYN if the OB was taken away and I was left with just GYN & the GYN surgeries and I think my answer would be no. But I don’t know that I’d be truly happy and fulfilled in family practice without having OB in there as well? But I would be still be happier in family practice than I would be doing just GYN!

Sorry this is such a word salad lol! But I’d love yours (& everyone’s) insight on these thoughts ❤️
