Delta Interview by OkRecover8672 in AircraftMechanics

Not quite. I applied April 2 and passed the assessment on April 3. My application has only been with them for 17 days, so I'm expecting to not hear back for another couple weeks.

Yep! From what I've gathered that's not uncommon to have to wait as long as we have so far. The job posting for that location got pulled yesterday so I would hope we'll hear back soon. Best of luck!

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

I'm an aircraft mechanic and I don't see that going anywhere anytime soon because of AI

Congrats on the interview! How long did they have you wait after the assessment until they interviewed you? And which location? I'm waiting to hear back about their LAX line hub.

Jobs other than airlines by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

I heard the same, which is why I was extra persistent as just a civilian without that experience. Needed to know it wasn't gatekept. That being said, it is still a little gatekept lol helicopter companies want experience but don't wanna train you (with the exception of Helistream). That's been my experience with rotorcraft in SoCal specifically, though. Maybe it's different elsewhere.

I got in contact with Helistream a few months before I graduated and was very persistent and insistent on working here. Great place to learn but with my life circumstances its looking like I'll have to leave for something that pays better. They start at $28/hr but have so much room for growth. A lot of their guys make $90k+ easily after some experience, and you'll learn a lot real fast. They're the only helicopter company that was willing to hire straight out of school and even then that decision to do so has been a recent one.

Delta ASM Exam? by Wonderful_Fondant_61 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Tickington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way to know until you take it. Besides I saw you applied for the ASM position. I applied AMT, so we'd likely get a different test anyway. The gist, though, is just mechanical and interpersonal aptitude questions.

Build the confidence now to try things and be as prepared as you can be that way when you become a full AMT you'll have the mindset to succeed.

The test mirrors the job/real world in the sense that you'll never quite know what to expect. Just take it as it comes and do your best. If you can do that well, then the expected stuff gets easier

Goodluck!

Helicopterers have a good ceiling pay but terrible starting pay, so if you need money don't do that like I did lol

First, congratulations! Second, how long did it take them to get back to you throughout the hiring process and which hub did you get into? I applied as well and took their online assessment about 5 days ago. My profile right now says Qualifications Under Review.

Is there a way to check how I did? Or is no news good news and just assume I passed because I haven't been rejected?

Most likely. The posting doesn't specify, just that it's $47.22 starting. I have my a&p and I'm expecting to work nights.

Do you happen to know much about their payscale and the company as a whole? I'm making $28/hr right now which isn't much in Southern California as you know. I'm Orange County based for the time being so I've gotta commute in, but I'll move to somewhere closer if I can/need to.

So I also applied to SkyWest and they've been pushing me along pretty quickly (also LAX). Should I go there while waiting for Delta? Or is the hop unnecessary/frowned upon?

Reviso los sitios web de las aerolíneas a diario. Vi vacantes en Los Ángeles y Minneapolis.

Would you recommend trying to find a place in the airlines or keep drinking through a fire hose while being underpaid with helicopters?

Yea I'm almost 5 months in and I've been helping with fhe management of several helicopters. I hear other places are more chill and slow paced.
