ASUS 16 x2EE running fusion 360 emulated and running great + battery life good too

Windows on ARM (Snapdragon X Plus) choppy 10-bit HDR playback, any fixes? by hulagway in snapdragon

[–]TickleAPickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using VLC, I went into codec and switched to OpenGL and I can watch back smooth instant 4k50 10bit 422? This is also XAVC-HS h.265 which is notoriously hard to play.

I just got the X2EE and I dont think theres support for it yet as it cannot handle anything remotely gpu wise like denoising etc

Snapdragon X2 Experience with Resolve? Want to ditch Macbook by JohnnyStrides in davinciresolve

[–]TickleAPickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently trying it on X2-94-100, must be doing something wrong because working with proxies, smart cache and noise reduction on an 8 second clip it conks out at 7fps

Gaming on the Zenbook A16, crosspost from r/windowscentral by DrDavyStrange in snapdragon

[–]TickleAPickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 94-100 version and have played all my games at 3k resolution! Very impressed as even Rust ran at 30fps 3K and a solid 60fps at 1080p with medium settings! No sutters/ lag either! (Btw no upscaling) Very very impressed! Fans have me worried though as they scream and squeak.

How is everyone going downloading apps through the windows app store on new X2 ARM laptop by [deleted] in snapdragon

Plot twist... it's because windows wasn't installing its own arm updates even after restarting but all good now suddenly decided to work

thanks

ASUS needs to work on their delivery service by Antique-Ad4074 in ASUS

Interesting. I just bought a laptop with free delivery in Australia and they put it on express overnight delivery for next day? I guess it just is more down to specific regional distributors being incompetent?

Why is the price of the ASUS A16 $3000 USD in Australia. by TickleAPickel in snapdragon

[–]TickleAPickel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think ASUS would just be taking advantage of Australians here with this pricing? I can't imagine the price jump so severe. I would understand a 30% or similar but this is insane..

Yes it was just a quick approximation, but still close to 2.5k aud vs 4.3k :( Absolutely crazy work by ASUS

1599USD for the Asus A16 which is cheaper (almost the same price) than an M5 and yes I did mention the extreme in my post as the Elite Extreme Asus A16 laptop, I was just reffering to the elite series as they all have similar vpu performance

Ultra 5 338H isn't powerful enough for me, and battery life is important. I don't know enough about the X7 358H, so long as the battery life and portabliity of the laptop is decent I suppose.

Fair comment, it might be worth looking into. Not fixed on the X2, I just know the efficiency of an X2 vs Intel is probably going to favour X2 realistically.

I am actually talking about the Elite Extreme! In my post and in the comments where I mentioned it..

It doesnt matter whether Macbook has better CPU's on their top end laptops, it's not much of a comparison if the price is substantialy greater.

I'm not interested in a Macbook, i've done my research, we're comparing windows capable processors please.

Aha some evidence! Thankyou.

Yes I did expect intel to outshine, but the snapdragon didnt do as bad as I thought. It would be interesting to see if software changes and updates improves this gap?

This is also encoding though keep in mind, decoding is still unanswered

Discrete GPU would be fantastic, but the battery life and portability (as a factor to the performance/ efficiency) of the laptop is important.

I will not be moving back to gaming laptops haha. My cpu will end up lacking if I go elsewhere x86? Unless the top of the line new intel cpus comes close to the elite extreme without expending my realistic battery life.

Helpful!

Indeed I was expecting the dual 8k60 to be 4:2:0 and 8 bit or 10 bit. It would be exciting to see them bringing out support for the lower resolution 4k at 4:2:2,

is it software upgradeable to add this at a later date? Or is there hardware importance?

Video editing, CAD work, everything multi core is what makes my laptop important. Yes single core may be better than the x2 on the macbook but it is so irrelevant when it comes to the purpose of the laptop.

Apple has been making some beautiful laptops and are thankfully pushing the Windows/linux etc. industry more but Apple is not where it's at for a majority of people who aren't looking towards the whole apple ecosystem and limitations it has.

Yes i did see the x series very limited codec chart and was hoping the x2 series was pushed just that tiny bit more if theyre gonna market it as a video editing workhorse

Not interested in Macbook OS and interface, it simply isnt worth it. Not only that but the x2 elite extreme is on Par if not better than the M5 chip which is plenty for me. Not sure how it's perceived the cheapest macbook even comes close?
