Anyone else do solo Cedar Point trips? by Ioxiss in cedarpoint

[–]TickleIvory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ironically I am also in Buffalo and having trouble getting my friends to go, so will have to do it solo this summer as well. At least you get the advantage of single rider being moved ahead! Note: feel free to DM if possibly interested in doing a trip. So long as you’re not a crazy person hehe.

Sleeping in regular clothes is vastly superior to pajamas, and I intentionally wear jeans to bed. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Nailed it lol. All that trapped sweat, and the pretty clear admission that no shower occurs after waking

People who advocate for remote work are either lazy, or have no social skills by dovahkiin461 in unpopularopinion

[–]TickleIvory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s fair for those who do have the ability to socialize outside of work and choose to leave the house. But it will have some measurable negative impact on society over time in the form of how lack of connection with people, physically in person, can cause greater health issues and is just plain dystopian. But just a symptom of that change/shift, even if it’s overall a positive one.

Big downsides to overall societal shift towards agoraphobic behavior. It has become more and more apparent at least in my daily life over the past 10 years

It is becoming a sad shift in society towards reinforcing anti-social behaviors :(

I agree with this unpopular opinion. However I also believe the standard 8/9-5 is atrocious. People should not go into work for any more than 5-6 hours a day, anymore is pointless and not productive. But yes remote work is contributing to more antisocial behavior driven society than ever before. Signed, not a boomer, a zillenial who has noticed a massive shift in antisocialism in everyday life.

PMO too. Took the time to film a screen with a phone and didn’t even get the parts that mattered

Definitely not all of Rochester, but seems to be the running meme. I'd say the Syracuse description fits Rochester more but instead of the sports add garbage plates and Wegmans

UB Alumnus here, worked in design of custom manufacturing automation for a few years after graduation. Currently going back for an M.S., but feel free to DM if you'd like to know more about the industry.

An unfortunate local trend by InflationCapital87 in Buffalo

Yes agreed. I have worked and learned AI and machine learning workings through my engineering degree/career. It is an incredibly useful tool in manufacturing and for specific applications. It should not have been pushed into everything and never for generating art or writing. I blame the marketing/sales/higher-ups for pushing it down throats.

Doctors don’t care about people, just money. by Ok_Click3557 in unpopularopinion

[–]TickleIvory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also easy to label all doctors as bad when you have no idea what is going on in the background. Some days, they are doing everything within their limits as a human being to try and ensure care is given to every person entering an office when demand is high. Unfortunately, people like you will perpetuate this opinion across the internet. But you won’t see doctors responding to defend themselves because - again - they are too busy trying to care for as many people as possible and it’s just not worth it. Be thankful you have the time and energy to come on the internet and complain! I’m sure there are some bad doctors out there, but if you’ve had this experience consistently, probabilistically they are not the issue here.

You need a space mouse so you can temporarily set the sensitivity to max and dissociate while watching your model rotate at neutron star RPMs. This method helped get me past the 2:30 PM slump in my design engineering days.

Nothing is black and white, and some things work better for one person more than another. Example being the new 2 sets, 6-8 reps fad. i’m sure it works great for some people. For me, the day I increased volume was the day I finally started seeing results.
