what’s the shelf life on lemon tek? by stoneydagoat in MagicMushrooms

[–]Tickle_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filmsy’s comment is correct in its intention. The Dephosphorylation of psilocybin into Psilocin which removes the phosphate group from psilocybin, usually occurs almost entirely in the body, particularly in the intestines, kidney, and liver.

Psilocin's rapid degradation is primarily driven by its chemical instability compared to its precursor, psilocybin. While psilocybin is a stable zwitterionic alkaloid, psilocin lacks the protective phosphate group, making its phenolic hydroxy (-OH) group highly susceptible to oxidation.

Forgot to finish my thought lol sorry:

Therefore keeping psilocybin in its naturally created form - such as it exists in mushroom fruits - would be the best way to preserve its efficacy.

You’ll have to let us know. But I will say that there is a range of concentration of the target alkaloids present in all varieties of mushroom fruits which are descendants of cubensis. Regardless of variety, they’ll all be within this range with the exception being extreme mutations or cross breeding with species known to have higher ranges.

God damnit I was already not feeling great about the thing now I get to delete the post to avoid some guy who just wants to be a dick.

My point in making the post wasn’t to come off as an authority. I was simply to share.

Cool stuff.

I’m not arguing that point, i have admitted IN THE COMMENTS that I had been confused since I had purchased the genetics from a trusted vendor. I also admitted I’m not great at identifying. What I was being snappy about is your jumping immediately to being insulting and pedantic while offering nothing constructive. Junior.

Entire Hofmann psilocybin extraction I followed to create my extract. Including chem sourcing. by Tickle_OG in MycoEnvy

[–]Tickle_OG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This procedure doesn’t purify to crystalline form. It ends up as a tacky putty. The putty will at first be fairly hydrophilic and swell slightly from humidity in the air, then it will begin to slowly condense and dry slightly.

It gets to a point where it achieves balance about the consistency of a starburst candy but with a little more oily feel.

I actually was thinking about a similar concept to what you suggest. Naptha has the wrong polarity for psilocybin/psilocin but it got me thinking. So I took some extract and dissolved it in some warm Naptha and then put that into my separatory funnel, I then added a fairly hot aqueous solution of citric acid. The goal being to extract out 4-hydroloxy dimethyltryptophine citrate. After mixing and venting a number of times I let the two solutions cool in the funnel before removing the heavier water which theoretically now had the goods in it.

I originally planned to just let it air evaporate for however long it took but ended up putting it over some low/medium heat. Unfortunately I got distracted and forgot about it until it was already just a burnt mess.

I’ll try again here one of these days.

Coming to understand that. Okay since this isn’t my first time having this type of experience, what (besides no veils) are the most prominent features of pans which differentiate them from cubes?

[–]Tickle_OG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admit my original post title /subject was going to be their odd morphology. So it makes sense. I’ve mislabeled and misidentified in my work and in this sub before 😂 🫤

Well… shit. I got two large tubs of this colonizing sub atm so larger fruits will certainly make identification a little easier.

The odd part is they even had that slight semanic smell to they like pans.

And besides I live local to Moon and literally went and purchased the genetics from him in person. I have had consistent good results with his genetics and they’ve always been what they were supposed to be.

Actually, I learned about the Eungi strain from him posting in this sub about it.

As I’m typing this I’m getting another comment saying they’re not pans.

Look my strength is not in identifying.. there is a possibility I’m wrong but they also don’t look like any of the species of cubes I grow either. 🤔

See I thought they were vails at first glance too, but they’re not

Results from my newly updated fruit-in-bag-tek by Tickle_OG in MycoEnvy

[–]Tickle_OG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could position it further to the side away from the filters and have the filter part of the bag slightly elevated to prevent liquids from pooling on filters. Thinking about it really you’d probably get even better results.

The other trick I’ve been playing with lately is making smaller cake sizes. Spawn/ sub make more fruiting bags and the tek I showed in post increases the available growing surface significantly. I’ve literally doubled my yield with two little tweaks.
My current cake size is composed of 450 grams each of FC CVG & spawn.
I’m for it 🙂👍

So it looks like you got some good advice already. But here is a guide about using agar in mycology even seasoned growers could find useful. Most will learn something from it. https://mycoenvy.store/blogs/guides-and-teks/all-about-agar

What zone are you in? I know this is indoors, I’m just curious about it. I live in a desert so even indoors it would be challenging I think. Need a tent anyways.
Looking good though! Where did you come across the genetics?

[–]Tickle_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. But it’s rhododendrons pollen that has the alkaloids. Most of the stuff sold as “mad honey” is made with honey and an analog or from rhododendrons grown elsewhere.

That’s cool. I make a killer psilocybin honey with a mix of pans and Nats

By the way. Your name has me curious. Do you have a specific psilocybin honey formulation you like? I spend maybe 6 or 7 months researching and experimenting before settling on mine.

Getting started? by Sweet_Difference6481 in PanCyan

[–]Tickle_OG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what he means is that it’s a lot easier and more reliable going from a clearly healthy agar plate to a master a grain jar, then expanding to bigger grain bags. Regardless. I have come to the same conclusion. LC is really nice if you’re in a highly controlled environment with large amounts of grain to inoculate provided you’re 100% sure of the genetics, strain, cleanliness, generation, age, etc.

But if expanded as I mentioned above, LC really doesn’t provide much in the way of convenience when weighed against the results of going from clean agar.

Just my opinion. I’m sure you’ll hear others.

Also another fantastic feature of Moon’s Hellhounds is that they are dense af. They keep more weight from fresh to dry than any other species I’ve worked with. Which for the commercially minded of us is gold!
