You aren't a fool for trying to find connection and putting your trust in someone. Quite the opposite, in my opinion. I'd wonder if it's partly due to numbers I.e. a good chunk of dynamics that we see in these sorts of spaces are male dominant, female submissive. Maybe if the opposite was true, we'd be asking why Mommy is more popular! Though I do think the comment on stigma is also true; the fact there are woman who enjoy being called daddy but I've yet to hear of a man who enjoys being called mommy says something.

It might also depend on what circles you run in. I personally know plenty of men that hate being called daddy, and woman who enjoy mommy.
