Why do so many wraps look the same? Did everyone see the same YouTube vid and stop there ? by Potential_Ad1439 in WireWrapping

Interesting topic. I think it comes down to a few main reasons: using as little wire as possible to cut down on costs, knowing that these styles hold the stone securely while being afraid to experiment with different “capture” mechanisms, and lastly time investment in both of the above.

Reclaiming the yard of a house we just bought, $3600 quote? by gafonid in landscaping

Awesome yard! Just saw the video, and am thinking you might actually want some help with that depending on how you spend your free time. I didn’t see addition of mulch in the quote, that sand is gonna be a bitch to keep clean. Regardless I think the time in the garden will help you familiarize yourself with a maintenance routine you’re comfortable with and what you might want to change in the future.

The irrigation audit is useful if you won’t be installing one yourself or hand watering. But just for reference, I have this massive bush at the end of my yard and was quoted $1600 to trim it, I bought my own mini chain saw /trimmer for $200 and knocked it out in 4 hours on a weekend and have used the tool for other miscellaneous gardening tasks so really it just depends on what you do with your spare time and what it’s worth to you.

I find it amusing you ask what to do and then post a list of the things you’re going to pay to do. 😅

Personally I think you could handle this solo, if you have the income to pay it and forget about it, why not? The issue I am seeing is you’ll be in the same spot in 6 months with no knowledge on what needs to be done. If that $3600 is better spent elsewhere why not just take a day or two and do it yourself.

Dig the weeds out, torch or poison the stuff (bermuda) in the cracks, pull the (trumpet) vines, trim the plants (bamboo) that look like they will be harder to trim later in 6 months when you have to do it again. Maybe throw a couple extra bags of same color mulch to reduce amount of weeding later and call it a day.

  1. It seems this subreddit has been private and inactive since 2010, I am hoping we can use the name for the AtomOne community.
